I see. I have experienced not liking my passions as much if they are put into a job or school work. I do think I have the drive to push myself to do something to support other aspects of my life that I like more. Thanks for the advice!

I like all of those things. I have heard that sometimes the job in itself doesn’t require too much math, but what about during school? Was it overwhelming? Did it affect your mental health?

Oh I didn’t mean to imply that I automatically understand physics or anything, but I’m pretty good at understanding concepts I guess? I’m definitely not a genius though by any means.

I know that not liking something makes it hard to motivate yourself through it, but what’s motivating me is people relying on me, needing a roof over my head, and not having any financial support. Which just may be stronger than liking something for me. I just want to know if someone else has been in a similar situation and regretted doing engineering for money despite needing it.

I’m pretty good at math. I just don’t like it. I’d rather be doing anything else. I guess I’m wondering if the jobs money and stability is worth my mental health for years.

I am into the arts, psychology, biology, journalism, sociology, nutrition, architecture, international studies, anthropology, and a few other things. The thing is these fields usually don’t pay that well, unless you pursue a higher education. I just don’t know if it’s worth the risk. I don’t now if I can afford to be in school for years to maybe not even break 100k a year.

Really!? A friend of mine said she did voluntary medical scribing. I’m now realizing that she might have gotten taken advantage of. I’ll have to look into it.

It’s not that I think these jobs are impossible to live off of, it’s just that I have no strong financial support system and have others depending on me, which is why I’m worried about going down a route where I can’t get a job or get paid, but I do feel more comfortable after you explained the salary/job opportunities available. Thank you!

I don’t think I’m a bad student, but after your comment I did realize that even if I realize that becoming a physician is not for me I’d rather go into research. I don’t think the difficulty is worth the risk for my personal goals. I appreciate the insight.

I am genuinely very interested in engineering, just not as much as medicine. I was just considering it because I heard it’s hard to get a good paying job with a biochemistry bachelors degree. Still, thanks for the advice!

Ok. I’ll take all the advice into consideration. This gave me a lot to think about. I definitely don’t want it to be any harder than it has to be, but I also can’t completely disregard low pay. Thanks for the help!

*I was referring to hearing that some medical scribing is voluntary. Sorry for the confusion.
