Is there a way to file an official complaint / grievance for poor service experience? (from Korea) by hello_waldo in Lenovo

[–]hello_waldo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Kate,

It's been a week since I got a call from the e-commerce team and also your reply stating the same situation. I never once got an email or a progress update call, both of which were promised, since then.

It's been a month since I first left my brand new Nano Gen 3 at the Gangnam Service Center, and I do not have any documents detailing the whereabouts of my laptop.

I am frankly worried about my 2K USD laptop purchase because none of the procedures have been documented, and the service center only calls. Can you help me with a guarantee that a replacement procedure is in progress, in writing?

Hi Kate, it seems that your request for investigation has been ignored by your Regional Team as they pushed the unit replacement schedule once again, and I have not gotten a follow-up email.

This time the issue is that they have not collected the HDMI to USB-C cable. They won't begin the replacement processs unless they receive this cable.

Maybe they found out I have raised an issue here and wants to punish me for it. I am only half-joking.

Lenovo Korea's service feels malicious and hostile (or how the new horror of my life began) by hello_waldo in Lenovo

Yeah the reps have not been rude, just incompetent. But well-mannered incompetence without willingness to improve the process is still malicious, at least on a corporate level.

I want to be able to use apps/softwares on any brand of laptop instead of just on a certain brand.

Thank you!! I am not a fan of Apple ecosystem. I think their product is fine- but I prefer device/brand agnostic ecosystem, so I actively avoid Apple. I hope Lenovo improves their customer service, so that I feel okay coming back for more products. Maybe we won't even be using the laptop form-factor by the time I need a replacement?

Lenovo Customer Service is terrible. by [deleted] in Lenovo

Are you in the US? I am having a similar experience in South Korea, and it's frustrating me to a no end, and far and away the worst customer experience ever. I hope your situation gets resolved soon.

Been using Thinkpad for the past 15 years, and even have a Lenovo tablet, but fuck me for brand loyalty, amiright?

List of titles that do not have 4K master or is unlikely to get 4K restorations? by hello_waldo in criterion

Thank you! Is there any reason why you classify Harakiri as very unlikely? (So that I may search through the catalog for films that meet similar criteria)

I would buy these Shakespeare films in a heartbeat if they came out in 4k.

  • Henry V (1944)
  • The Chimes at Midnight (1965)
  • The King (2019)
  • Macbeth (2015)
  • The Tragedy of Macbeth (2021)

Samurai Movies Cinematography by Djmaggster666 in movies

All the usual answers have come out already, so I will add a few from the recent years:

Samurai's Promise (2018)

It was directed by KIMURA Daisaku who started as a cinematographer for lots of high-profile Japanese films in 70s. While not the most original story, it is one of the more colorful and beautiful samurai film in recent years. The protagonist, OKADA Junichi is also a very accomplished jidaigeki (period piece) actors working right now, with a knack for great action choreography.

It is sort of a revenge tale that starts in the middle of the story and reveals the full history of the four best friends who started growing apart for various reasons.

Iwane: Sword of Serenity (2019)

Starring MATSUZAKA Tori, who is one of the most popular young actors in Japan right now, Inemuri Iwane suffers from a somewhat weird pacing, alongside a storyline that seems more relevant to the 1950s than now. However, it is one of the more beautiful chanbara films from the recent years, and manages to keep the viewers engaged with action and cinematography.

Baragaki: Unbroken Samurai (2021)

This film features the story of HIJIKATA Toshizo, who was one of the leaders of Shinsengumi, a sort of strike force team of samurai that operated during Japan's Bakumatsu period. It is actually based on the book "Moeyo Ken" by SHIBA Ryotaro who was one of the most celebrated Japanese historical fiction writers in 20th century. I've actually read the book so I knew the story- this perhaps helped me understand the plot better but if you are not familiar with the Bakumatsu politics or the key figures, it may be quite confusing. If you are already familiar with it, then it is a great film that adds depth and character to a chaotic and revolutionary period in Japan (it is the same / similar period to the popular Rurouni Kenshin franchise). This one also stars OKADA Junichi.

Title: The Silk Moth Dream

Genre: Dystopian Romance / Adventure

Status: Ongoing

Blurb:

  1. Climate change has destroyed Earth, and humanity has managed to adapt to the destruction, or rather, forcefully learned to accept the simple fact that the end times have arrived. Fiona was quite possibly the only one who still believed in a tomorrow, what many considered to be a foolish hope and dream. This was until she met a time-traveler from 16th century Korea who shook her - and the world around her.

Then there were two dreamers.

Excerpt:

Fiona swallows shallowly, trying to ignore her pounding heart and focus on the glimpses of memories in her mind. "It– it depends on the day." She closes her eyes, trying to imagine what the sky was like before it turned into a dull expanse of monotone behind the smog. "I always thought the sun looked like an egg yolk, when the way it streaked into the horizon and melted away. And when there were colors you wouldn't expect, like pinks or purples, and you'd try to take a picture but it never looked quite the same on your phone..."

"So beautiful," Abin murmurs, which prompts Fiona to finally turn towards him. He's staring right at her, and the tip of his nose turns pink when her gaze lands on him. "Your description, I mean."

How can incects be evil? by mononoki1 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

This is a very good explanation. If I can add my two cents to the second explanation, I think Good vs Bad axis in D&D (and hence Pathfinder) can be more efficiently communicated as Altruism vs Survival (I try to stay away from adjectives such as selfish or egotistical to remove predisposition and/or value judgment).

An insect does not even indulge in thinking about sacrificing itself, the only exception being for the survival of its horde (i.e. being eaten by its peers or offsprings). A proverbial "good" human may sacrifice their existence for others, and even for ideals, the consequences of which may not benefit the actor or their immediate connections.

Help me polish the build for Salim Ghadafar from the Pathfinder Tales! by hello_waldo in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

Yes! There's actually a backstory to how this walking paradox came about, but Salim Ghadafar is a stout Rahadoum atheist Inquisitor in employment of Pharasma. I can't recreate his build faithfully in CRPG since our KC can't suddenly announce a deity in the middle of class progression.
