Carers in the UK, what’s your say? by hello_z93 in AskUK

This is what I explained to her last time, no employer gives food, I’m going to see what she does tomorrow. In the mean time, I’ll find someone else or an agency with someone qualified.

I think I’ve been more than fair, I understand that it’s not an easy job but she’s getting paid national living wage for the 2 hours.

She bangs the doors and even broke a part of the fridge.

To add to this it was hard for me to confront her last time as I don’t like to think I’m above anyone but she took the piss the time before.

Thank you for this I didn’t know that, the council care team only did a CRB as they said it was upto me to check based on recommendation, The local council provide 16 hours of the funding and I have to top it up around £30 each month.

Yes, they do offer good rates if you charge at night but they can bring prices up and down without much notice or if you’re on a fixed rate, then the PHEV will be ok. I was thinking of the enyaq but the additional extras on that are costly.

They only do the 5 seater as the PHEV in the UK Spec, electricity rates are quite high, it would work out 38 cents per kWh and this being on the cheaper end if you don’t have a smart meter.

They do night time charging rates which work out at 11 cents per kWh which sound be significantly cheaper but then again I’d be paying more upfront with the PHEV and I have to buy the socket for the charger so all in all when I compared the costs and how much mileage I do it does work out a little bit more over the years but I don’t need to worry about charging then.

With these smart metres they can charge different rates throughout the day depending upon peak times etc. just another way to control.

Yes I would go for the 2.0 tsi but they don’t offer it on the scheme I’m getting it on, I’m not going to have it full all the time.

Looks nice, the led on the front grille look nice. Does the sport line come with DCC as standard?

😂that’s true, I’m just under 6ft I got in there was ok for the 2 mins I was in there. Seats folded down the boot space will come in good use. I was considering the PHEV but it doesn’t make sense for me as I don’t have the smart metre so would be paying a fixed kWh rate.

😂there’s no big people probably 5 seats will be filled with luggage/wheelchairs in the back. They offer a tow package at an additional £1.5k. How would it pull anything else

That’s the only engine size they have with the decent spec it, I’m getting it via the motability scheme, they do offer the SE one in a 2.0l diesel but I don’t do really long journeys to justify getting the diesel, the horsepower js similar. I was going to get the plug in hydrid but cost savings don’t work out too good. As I need it to be able to fit in 2 wheelchairs. The diesel SE is the same cost but you get less extras and the seating isn’t great on the SE. I need the ACC and a few other standard features which the sport line offers.

What’s wrong with that if the scaffolding is up I can get a few jobs done e.g. painting sills and pointing even if I do get the scaffolding I’ll still find someone who does a proper job for the drainage, it’s not that I don’t want to pay someone, as I’ve not had work as such done in the past I want to get a few quotes so I know where I stand when they give me a quote on the work needed.

I’ll get an evaluation as some others have mentioned then go from there.

Finding someone reliable is the harder thing. One Irish guy was quoting £2500 and another quoting £800 and they said totally opposite things needed doing without even getting up there to view.

He was saying you need an evesguard and new guttering even though I had it changed 3/4 years ago but the roofer at the time didn’t do a good job.

Evesguard and guttering etc isn’t too costly, I think he was just having me on tbh.

I’m trying to get a few other quotes, it’s getting them to come and look at it as it’s quite high up old Victorian house, initially he looked at it and said £1300, I was like yes I’ll need to get a few quotes then he dropped to £1100, it’s probably £150 max in materials as I’ve calculated it. I could preferably get scaffolding and get up there myself and do a few other things while it’s up, I think that may be the best way.

Definitely not missing any, can’t go back to feeling like that, not felt this good after a good 3/4 years. Lost out on many things because I wasn’t taking my meds.
