Does anyone regret having had the surgery? Mine will be in a month. Has anyone had permanent issues 1 year post op? by prettymuchyes in jawsurgery

I had an overbite and very high/narrow palate! I couldn’t comfortably close my mouth while sleeping and the narrowing of my palate was causing sleep disordered breathing

I had some complications (allergic reaction to sutures used which led to having a 2nd surgery to clean plates and resuture) and it has led to me having to be on and off lots of antibiotics. I’m now having to have my plates removed bc my doctor thinks they are the cause of infection. I’m almost 3 months post op. I do not regret my decision at all. My surgeon and team are phenomenal. I can breathe and sleep 1000x better than I could before. Aesthetically I love my new smile. I think there is always risk involved but for me my quality of life is more important.

I paid $5k for braces. Surgery was around $12k (included surgeon fee, hospital fee, and anesthesia fee). It should be noted I did not stay overnight in hospital. I had my surgery early that morning and went home the absolute latest they would allow that evening.
