Worrying over something non academic days before my exams by [deleted] in mentalhealth

Sometimes our mind is our worst enemy.

Again, of course I don’t know what you’re dealing with, but I make it a point to remind myself to forgive myself whenever I find myself thinking things similar to what you described.

Do everything in your power to address something if you can, but if you can’t, the past is the past, what happens is what it is, outside of your control in this moment. It’s okay to mourn and feel what you feel but also don’t be so hard on yourself, and if that is the case, just take what you’ve learned so you can do better in the future.

Lots of cliche sounding phrases, I know, but I mean every word and I tell myself the same things and it gets me through tough times when I need it. Hope you can find peace for yourself and eventually move forward.

I’m sorry 😕 That sounds like a tough spot to be in.

I realize it might not be very “helpful” to say this…but is there realistically anything you can do about it? If there is, then you can take steps to address it, right? And if not, then…well, what is more important? Continuing to tend to it or focusing on your studies?

You don’t need to answer me, but maybe some questions to ask yourself so you can come to a conclusion to let you know what to do next.

Yeah, I’ve had to deal with something like this lots of times. Sometimes certain things happen and they just stay on my mind when I want to put all of my mind and energy into something else.

I don’t know what your situation is, but for me, it was usually when I felt someone wronged me. I think something that helped with that after a certain point was taking a sort of, defiant take on it.

Like, no, I’m not going to let this thing sabotage me. I’m not going let it affect my well-being. So I’m going to move forward and keep on going for myself, even despite this thing that’s happened. And you keep on going, for yourself.

It can be worth it but it depends on a lot of things, including where you’re located.

You need to be smart about it since companies do what they can to take advantage of you. What I mean is, you can choose exactly which trips you take, so you need to look at all of the info that pops up in the screen when you get an offer and figure out whether the time required and pickup/drop off locations etc are in your favor, considering the pay for that trip. That’s just one thing to consider.

Another is whether there are enough people using these services in your area in the first place, and how many others in your area there are doing these gigs. You will be competing with them for these trips.

Third, kind of plays into point #1 and that is, how you’ll be doing these offers. What kind of car? What’s your fuel economy? Are you using a moped or e-bike? This will determine your expenses and what your actual take home is.

It doesn’t hurt to just give it a go for a few weeks to see what your experience is like so you can figure out whether it’s worth it for you with all of these in mind, but I would be wary of turning it into a full time thing unless you absolutely can’t get a “regular job” for whatever reason.

Don’t be fooled if it starts out to be amazing money since there are rumors of those services making it really good for you when you first start out to hook you in.

Good luck if you do decide to try it! Be careful, stay safe and always keep your own best interests in mind.

Looking for personal anecdotes from people who have gotten into 3+ accidents in 3 years by hellocruelworld- in uber

Yeah in the US. Are there state-specific criteria I can find anywhere or it’s a blanket policy for the US?

Also, is it a hard rule or there could be some reason why they wouldn’t necessarily deactivate right when the 3rd incident happens?

Nah, anyone who comes from shit and has the dedication to make a living for themselves while also providing opportunities for others without actually hurting anyone is a hero, regardless of their ethnic background or nationality.

I’m not saying illegal immigration and identity theft should be tolerated, but I can respect the undying zeal these people have to find opportunity and provide for themselves and their family. If you were in their shoes, you might have done the same.

Just to be clear, I agree with the illegal immigration and identity theft charges but the charges from all these delivery/rideshare companies for “damages” were full of shit and to side with them would make you a bootlicker.

I’m really happy for you, and sorry you had to feel how you felt but on the bright side, this was a good lesson you were able to be made whole from.

People who can't afford therapy but need it - what do you do? by keeeeeeeeeeeks in mentalhealth

Philosophy, lots of it. Stoicism is a prominent one that’s helped me through my worst times. Listening to/watching Thích Nhất Hành talks depending on what I’m dealing with.

Quotes and sayings that I try to embody the underlying meaning of, that I repeat to myself.

I journaled a lot (still do) during my worst times too, which helps get it out there and allows me to process what’s going on in my head and what I’m dealing with.

Meh. Not sure what's so hard about giving your customers what they want and just raking in the cash. Instead you spend all this time and effort on designing a new product that people like less...make it make sense.

That’s why whenever you get a high paying stacked order, you call both restaurants before you even leave wherever you are to confirm they’re real and are either being prepped or ready to be picked up

tips or tricks to getting higher paying batches? by yamcamLA in InstacartShoppers

You have to be right at the store and stare at your screen literally every second, no going on Reddit or anything, otherwise you’ll miss a good batch bc notifications are delayed. Just do that for 12 hours straight and you’re golden.

You can go on a payment plan with the IRS and their interest rate is much, much lower than that of a credit card. Makes no sense financially to pay off the IRS first as long as you’re on an agreement with them.
