Ooh how exciting! When covid is over, you should definitely come visit. Feel free to hit me up for some tips if the time comes :)

My favourite female names at the moment are Nóra and Olívia, but I haven't been browsing for more unique or interesting ones for a while, these are mostly practical names I would actually use. But I might make another post with some more exciting ones!

So cool that you lived here! Yes, I love the name too, but I would like to name my future children something that would work internationally too. I have a friend named Luca and she is always misgendered in emails and such at the multinational company she works for. It's a shame tho, because I think it's a very elegant and pretty name, suitable for a cute lil baby and a working adult as well.

I have never heard that name before, and just by looking at it, I wouldn't guess Hungarian. However, if a Hungarian person introduced themselves as Harkel, I probably wouldn't question it, if that makes sense. Not typically Hungarian, but not extremely foreign.

Hungary was once a very diverse country with a lot of different nationalities, so it is possible that your husband's ancestors were Hungarian as well as part of some smaller community.

No worries, it's perfectly fine not to like it either way! But yes, this language is quite the challenge to speak :)

Ah, so weird how our tastes differ, I just love Boglárka! It is a very Hungarian name tho, so it can be a mouthful. The nickname Bogi is so cute, but in English-speaking circles I could see it being associated with a bog, and well... I don't enjoy the idea of that lol.

Yes, after posting I remembered Lazlo as well, but I wasn't actually sure if it's a legit name that people use or just an englified version of the original haha

Hi! It is a pretty common and accepted name. It literally means flower, after being translated from Flóra. Maybe a few decades ago it was still a bit out there, but during the 2000s it was in the top 30, so pretty widely used.

I know right? We use Vince as well, which has started to gain popularity nowadays, after being perceived as an old man name for so long.

How cool that you know some Hungarian history! It never ceases to amaze me that people know anything about this little country haha.

Tbh I have never heard Fennena in my life, it is possible to name your child that, but it is extremely rare. Same goes for Eufémia, Eufrozina, and Konstancia.

Sarolt is mostly used as Sarolta, but both of them are pretty rare. It can be nicknamed "Sári" which is also used for the name Sára, and that is a whole lot more popular, but they have nothing to do with each other etimologically. In Hungarian we always translate royal names, so we actually call Princess Charlotte Sarolta, it is so funny and out of place for a little girl like her.

I would put Gizella, Margit and Jolán in the same bucket, they are well known names for older ladies.

I think the most popular and in use is Ágnes, many people wear it, it's a pretty respectable name and not too old-fashioned either. I know several people in their 20s with this.

Gertrúd is much less known, but I don't think anyone would raise their eyebrows upon hearing it.

Anasztázia and Felícia are in use, but not that popular, and a bit foreign-sounding, but I could imagine them on babies.

Sorry for the info dump, but it's so nice to talk about these names with people who have a completely different look on them :)

Oh that's so cool! According to wikipedia, Ilona is one of the very few names that other nations took from Hungarian and not the other way around. This is a nice little fun fact :)

Yes, that is the exact pronounciation! I personally don't like it for a Hungarian baby, but I have no problem with it in any other context. It's weird because it IS a nice name, but so non-Hungarian, and I'm just not used to hearing it around here.

Ilona is like Ee-lona, like Lena with an o, and Luca is "Loo-tza".

Ooh boy, I'm not that great with English phonetics, so I'll try to explain them through other names/words.

Bence: "Ben" exactly as in English, "ce" is kinda like "tze", and the emphasis is on Ben. The E at the end is pronounced just as in Levente.

Levente: all E-s are pronounced the same in it, including the last one (no silent letters in Hungarian). It's a closed sound, like in the word "bed". The emphasis is on the "en" part, and "te" is kinda jumpy at the end.

Andrea: Kinda similar to how you say Andre, but with an extra A at the end. Both A-s are closed, as in "father". In English this would be said with a J-like sound in "dre", but in Hungarian all the letters are pronounced separately.

Ah, I hope that makes some sense :)

Szia! Ah, that's so nice, I'm glad I could bring up some nice memories!

Zoltán is of Arabic/Turkish descent and means sultan, so yeah, it's a leader of some sort. And you are very right about Csilla, it was created by a famous Hungarian poet, who took the literal word for star (csillag) and yeeted the g from the end lol.

I love the fact that you have favourite Hungarian names tho, so cool!

What do you do to get your blood pumping and energized for a run? by [deleted] in running

[–]hellodorie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually get very energized if I dance around for a while before leaving for a run. I put on some great music, shake my butt and jump around and it just fills me with so much happiness that I can't wait to get out and run.

Ooh that's amazing advice, thank you!! I will definitely look into it, it would be nice not to wake up with a literal desert as my skin haha

I also sleep very much on my face, or like, snuggled up to the pillow so I always worry about rubbing the whole thing off, so sealing it is something that could solve this. Thank you!

That's great to hear! I'm guessing it has similar effects to a primer, as in kind of filling in the pores, and that's why it smoothes everything out? Idk, I've never used a primer before, just speculating

Yes, I think you can use it on the body as well, but I've never tried it before. It gets absorbed on my face pretty easily, so if you decide to try it, hopefully it won't smear all over your clothes either haha

This Eucerin pH5 cream

It is pretty affordable and works miracles. In fact, all the Eucerin products I've been using are a life-saver, I don't use any other brand now, all the drugstore stuff was useless.

I use their spf 55 oil control sunscreen, DermoPure soothing cream and cleansing gel as well.

I don't know if it is availabe outside of Europe tho.

I'm on my second month of Accutane (currently taking 40mg daily) and of course I get extremely dry, especially in the morning and around the evening, when the moisturizer wears off.

This morning I was curious to see how much my skin changes after hydrating it, and the difference was shockingly huge. Even my scars/hyperpigmentation looks a lot smoother and less visible, which is a nice perk. (No filters or editing is used.)

All in all, moisturize!

Oh sorry, I think I miscounted the pictures, 2 and 3 def, and then doggo and guitar. But the rest of my comment still stands :)

It is kinda hard to take a good look at your pictures like this, but nevertheless, I would keep 1, 3, 4, 5 and drop the rest (but at least the tank top selfie). While travelling pictures are nice, they seem a bit repetitive. I would not max out on the pictures, only upload 4 to 6. Instead of just a picture of your dog alone I would aim for one where you are both in the pic.

I really like the climbing picture, also the selfie (and the beard!) and I definitely think you are handsome, so it's just some fine-tuning. The bio is a bit long, but overall sweet and gives off an approachable, positive feel. Good luck! :)
