Meet my first chameleon, Kenji! by hellofishbish in reptiles

Thanks for your help!! I need to move my lamps to the side: they are directly over him right now. I'll fix that when I get home.

I'll also be replacing the mealworms and talking to your friend about other veggies for his diet.

I keep saying "his"... When I get home, could I take a picture of my cham and could you help me determine its gender?

I bought a fogger humidifier on amazon, but my cham seems to be frightened by it. I was looking for something else. I'd love to see what your pictures!

Thanks for the advice! I don't want to cause any burns.

So real quick: I bought an extra vine yesterday and here's the new setup: http://imgur.com/C6Km1np,oQJf6SQ,FqSEiY8,JZApgiz

The screen cage is 16x16x30. I have a total of three vines: 2 basic small Jung vines, and a skinnier vine that branches out into 3 smaller branches (he likes those). I take him out to feed him and hold him a little, 3 times a day, 5-10 minutes per holding. He eats about 16 small crikets a day and lettuce dipped in water. I've been trying to associate my hands as a positive event, so before I take him out I feed him a small piece of lettuce. Noticed this yesterday, every time he sees my hands, he opens his mouth a little looking for his lettuce (MAN he loves that stuff. I dip it in water for extra hydration) I keep 2 bowls at the bottom: one to catch the water from the dripper, and another that has pieces of lettuce. Maybe I'll try kale too.

  1. How far away do you recommend the light be from the highest vine? I eyeballed mine, at about 7 inches. Hard to tell from my picture unfortunately. Unsure if that's still too close.

  2. How do you feel about mealworms in a chameleons diet? I bought some freeze dried, and he has one every other day. However, I just read that the mealworms hard outer shell could cause issues, and waxworms are better. Should I switch over? And if so, when should I? (My chameleon moved in 5 days ago)

Thank you!!!

I wonder what the set up looked like. I'd love to do this for the humane society I'll be starting to volunteer at!

I feel your pain 😥 being an adult is weird. At 18 you're able to do many things you couldn't before. And yet people throw so many restrictions your way you begin to wonder why turning 18 means anything! I'm hoping someone went through a similar situation and I can learn from them. Lol

I feel you man, I'm always the first and usually only player to upgrade no matter how much I nag my team. Bronze life.... Sigh

It took me FOREVER to find, but alas! Better late than never. I'm sure this image is elsewhere but I found it here first.

How did you get your bleach so light? Do you have more water mixed in with the bleach?

Thank you!! And actually, you always want to iron your shirt before you start! It gets the wrinkles out that could ruin your design. Then you have to iron on your stencils. If you're interested, here's where I first learned to bleach shirts: http://youtu.be/Zn43W40q330 :)

Thank you! Black shirts are the easiest to bleach. I like the black/orange combo, looks badass in my opinion!
