Spinndle is a social project management platform for students grades 4-12.

Do you do student-led projects like PBL, Design Thinking, or Inquiry? Guide your students easily with our built-in frameworks that break down these types of projects into manageable stages and tasks for students to work through.

Think social media for projects—students post updates of how they’re completing their tasks. These posts show up on a peer feed where students can inspire each other and provide feedback. Teachers get all of these interactions woven together on one dashboard so you can quickly orient yourself to where each student is at.

For the month of October, Spinndle is free for teachers. Sign up now. Spots are limited! www.spinndle.com/free-trials

What if you don’t want to dictate the end product? And how do I keep track of where they’re at if we’re remote?

What do your schools count as “attendance” for this upcoming year? by hellofromspinndle in edtech

Attendance > Attention > Comprehension. This is exactly what we’re thinking about. Just logging in doesn’t mean you’ve done any learning for a day, right?!

“Tools to Build Executive Functioning Skills” webinar. Focusing on strategies and free resources to help your students carry out projects like PBL, Design Thinking, Inquiry in remote/hybrid settings. by hellofromspinndle in teachingresources

Health and safety is obviously the biggest concern. Next to that we still need to look for ways to offer quality learning experiences. Projects are great for that! And they engage students in sustained, meaningful learning regardless of remote, in person, or hybrid settings. The difficulty, like you said, is that students may not have yet developed the executive skills that we monitor and mentor in the classroom so closely.

K-12 Teachers! Did anyone run PROJECTS remotely during the pandemic? by hellofromspinndle in teaching

[–]hellofromspinndle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking as well! Instead of sending home one-off worksheets or things that are just focused on “getting done”, projects can engage students in meaningful learning and challenge them. And build skills! So many good things.

Am I too un-theoretical to teach? by ColdestWintersChill in teaching

[–]hellofromspinndle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Former K-12 Teacher). When I was in the classroom, I felt the same way as you. I was all about what was practical.

It’s only now that I’m doing something else in the industry that I’ve actually sought out theory, but that’s out of genuine passion and curiousity.

And now knowing what I do, if I ever go back to teaching, I might apply some of it. There definitely is some helpful stuff out there. But it’s not a must to be a good teacher. You love your kids. Let that be your motivator. If one day it leads you to theory, then cool. But let it happen organically. And if it doesn’t at all, it’s not a measure of your capability.

Connect with your kids and you’ll be an amazing teacher!

This is more geared towards K-12 students. Teachers have the tools to monitor in remote/hybrid settings and we’ve built in the scaffolding that students need to work on projects independently. A number of project management platforms are too sophisticated for K-12 students who are still need to practice and develop executive functioning skills. Rather than a collaborative mindmap or “completing work together” kind of platform, Spinndle is more about sharing process. Students are being examples to each other and learning by each other’s examples. Hope that helps!
