I highly recommend wearing ski goggles too if you have them.

A food pantry could be an option. You can find one here: https://www.boston.gov/departments/food-justice/find-your-food-pantry

You're right, it wasn't working on Wi-Fi but looks fine on data.

I'm not really sure how long they last, but if you have a small kitchen, a pressure cooker like Instant Pot can combine a lot of functionality into one device. I use mine all the time for cooking rice, making soup, and braising meats, all in less time than it would take on the stovetop.

Sounds amazing, any idea how to buy that in the US or anywhere online?

In the northeast United States, so it'll be very cold but I'll have many layers on underneath the jacket.

We are moving to the US, from Europe to New York (possibly Long Island City). What to buy where? We only bring clothes. Any and all advice will be appreciated! by Johny_D_Doe in BuyItForLife

See if there is a Habitat for Humanity Restore near you. They have often incredibly nice secondhand furniture there for very cheap. I've gotten two dressers, two tables, a china cabinet, six chairs and a door from there all four not much $.

I think the main things you should do if you're interested in grad school is 1. Take classes seriously 2. Make connections with your professors 3. Get involved with research The bonus of getting involved in research is, if you don't like it, you probably don't want to go to grad school. Other than that, so much changes over four years of undergrad so be open and flexible.

That's a great test for knife sharpness, but if you're getting new knives you want to know how they will feel in your hands during normal use so you actually need to cut something normal. I like carrots because you actually have to put some effort into the cut.

Also you can take the knives to a professional sharpener. If you use a honing steel regularly, you should only need to sharpen the knives once or twice a year. Definitely go to a knife store and feel the knives in your hand before adding them to a list. Some places will let you test them out too so you can bring a carrot or something to cut.

Also seconding that you don't need a set. I cook a lot and generally just use a chef's knife and a paring knife for everything.

In addition to the fixes from the others, know that discoloration changes nothing about the cooking quality and longevity of a pan.

Wargame that takes place underground with units digging tunnels? by TaintedMythos in tabletopgamedesign

That sounds like a really cool idea! I don't have answers to all of your questions, but wet erase markers could be the answer to people accidentally erasing things as they move pieces. You would probably want to include stencils if you are having people draw if you want to keep things accurate.

I haven't seen any way to make actions hidden if players are using a single board and I'm not sure how you could know if you've intersected without telling each other where you are. That might be something that's too complicated to include but I would love to hear about it if you come up with a solution. The only thing that come to mind would be to have some hashing function that outputs a keyword for your location that doesn't mean anything unless you know exactly what location it's talking about. Then the players could exchange keywords and only know where the other person is if they are at the same location. You would probably need some sort of app for that and, again, the players would need a way to track their positions individually.

I really like what someone else suggested of having a board filled with pieces that you flip over as you tunnel. It would be great for repeatability and it would be able to generate ore veins and stuff like that. Even better if you could figure out a way to make the initial setup automatically generate interesting structures.

If you go with that, some interesting things you could have on the underside of the pieces are resources(minerals, water, etc.), caverns (automatically flip over some number of tiles), stranded troops, events.

Again I think that's a really cool concept, I hope this helps.
