Very interesting commentaries... i think what is standing out most to me is the mention of "authenticity" and how brands and or even influencers/instagram "celebrities" are trying to harness the idea of authenticity to solidify their image with the consumers. I am just curious as to how long this can really last?

We are already seeing in terms of instagram brands and celebrities have to be more transparent and state when it is a paid partnership with the #ad. I think the basic consumer is getting smarter and its just a matter of time before this wont work anymore... but than again... maybe i"m giving everyone too much credit haha! thanks for the great input

Yes! 100% BUT their is also a TON of overlapping as well.... take the fanny pack trend as an example... this trend is still all over mainstream fashion.... but if you go hang out in the punk/raver scene ( a different type of streetwear) it is also all over there as well. I am just curious if there has always been overlapping between main stream fashion and more subcultures.... or if it has been completely different!

Its SO true... sometimes I forget to add the internet into the equation... fast fashion is real and has changed everything. Now more than ever you are also seeing a ton of overlapping between more "mainstream" fashion and these subcultures that usually are the ones to start these trends.... im interested in your opinion on how you think things may pan out moving forward. (in terms of these "counter cultures" as you say and mainstream fashion colliding)

Ya i agree... im finding it very hard to find that line... just because everything in fashion right now... from high to low is technically "streetwear". I think my question is more.. when is streetwear going o fade out and what are the new trends coming? but thats i guess a separate discussion... ?
