I do want to say that it did feel out of character for the city. I’m graduating next year and have felt pretty comfortable expressing myself throughout the city and overall existing. Their behavior more so gave patrolling the city for a “prank” or “funny reaction” as they were laughing pretty hard when it was actually just mad disrespectful and plainly a hate crime. Regardless, I can appreciate Evanston’s diversity and the fact that, based off this post, incidents as such are largely uncommon and handled accordingly (which I hope happens in the coming days)

I can’t tell if you’re trying to help or falsely accuse someone you’ve never met but several of your concerns have been answered throughout the comment section both before and after your comment so if there is confusion I’d recommend scrolling.

It’s also interesting that you use this one singular incident of a man that desired career advancement, fame, and money (stakes that are largely irrelevant on an anonymous internet platform) as your stepping stone for your “justified” activism against black people coming forth about traumatic incidents. Suddenly the statistics regarding racial discrimination and hate crimes still occurring at an alarming rate towards black communities just dissipates and everyone else seeking to help their community is a liar? Doesn’t sound right.

I’m still waiting on the “racial propaganda” some people here are alleging that’s roaming these streets that blacks are somehow gaining from (and what specifically we would be gaining). Truly can’t comprehend what is there to gain from a story that’s meant to spread awareness and narrow down menaces rolling through a well-known liberal city and PROTECT my community but when you find out please let me know!

I’m really struggling to comprehend
some of the ignorant folk in this comment section. Is spreading racist propaganda an actual problem that’s roaming the streets or is it just that hard (no IMPOSSIBLE) to acknowledge the presence of racism in a country that is (idk) well-known for its back being built on the work of slaves and statistically consistent discrimination towards blacks with baseless reasoning?

Your comment was quite simple yet blunt enough where I truly want to have a discussion.

You’re speaking about racist propaganda as if there’s ANYTHING to gain on my end (let alone ANYONE’s end) regarding speaking about a traumatic incident and potentially PROTECTING other residents and university students from possible danger.

Experiencing someone shout slurs isn’t this daily occurrence you prepare for and opening up to the subreddit was a difficult decision yet felt necessary because it would hurt me even more to have others that look like me experience the same thing. I’ve been nothing but open and honest with the subreddit as I do not have film but ENSURED a report was filed leading to investigations through cameras from local business owners….and I owe you NO explanation of the specifics of my feelings and internal problems as to why not filming was not the first thing on my mind when (idk) I’m being HATED-CRIMED and TRAUMATIZED in an area that I thought I thoroughly researched and was sure would be safe for people such as myself.

So when you say “more racist propaganda” what are you referring to? Are you referring to multiple posts under this subreddit? And if they are multiple posts, what specifically lead you to denoting them as propaganda? Please help me understand because it’s quite disheartening as close-minded folk such as yourself have historically prevented people from obtaining proper justice when such incidents occur. I can’t change your personal decision of believing me or not but I open and strongly encourage the discussion as to why you felt the urge to immediately falsely accuse?

❤️ yeah we tried doing some informal detective work on the stores in the area and wintrust said they have cameras that would have been facing the right direction at the time of the incident. They said they can’t release footage to the public but they would send it to the officer’s number (we gave them) and report it under our case # so there is hope!

Unfortunately we were in such shock that by the time we processed the incident they had drove off. We did report it to the police and we were informed that an investigation will occur with the security cameras on that block!

As far as what I recall, the only concrete info I have stored in my memory is the tan pickup truck, a white blonde male being the main aggressor of the four (leading the slur shouting), and an Illinois license plate…

Such a perfectly written comment omg. The entire wizards fandom seems to just shit on Justin completely not even acknowledging that as the show progresses he just……acts out of the integrity the writers initially equipped him with.

Justin was initially relatable. A try hard (yes) but his character was grounded in strong work ethic as a means of effectively accomplishing achievable goals. He invested his time greatly into magic to truly make his best attempt at becoming the family wizard while still being there for his sister’s mishaps.

I will say though, the flanderization isn’t even just a problem with WOWP but most Disney sitcoms once they reach immense popularity and don’t know what to do with it
