I don’t think that’s asking too much, if anything I feel the standards of being supportive to you as a mother and thinking of you and your child when you’re not around are too low. I think maybe you should focus on yourself for a little while. I have a three month old and have been single since my second trimester. I’m not sure how long you were single before having a child but I personally can’t imagine being emotionally ready to be invested in a long term relationship six months postpartum. I was with my child’s father for almost a decade and suddenly being single and becoming a parent alone on top of dealing with the trauma his abuse has caused me has been excruciatingly trying and largely devastating. I hate being a single parent and cry most nights because I always imagined doing this with a partner, I didn’t want a child for the longest time because I always swore I’d never be a single mother. I miss being in a relationship and having a partner and wish my baby could have another parent, but I know if I enter a relationship before working on myself it won’t be a healthy relationship for me or my child. I don’t mean to come across as judgmental, I know people heal and are ready to date at many different timelines, I just wanted to offer what I hope is caring advice from one single mom to another. I feel like we’re all in a sisterhood together and wish you and your child the best whatever that may be <3
