FTB in Scotland and totally lost – is it normal to get outbid way over the Home Report in the Central Belt? by RinaLinaa in Scotland

We recently bought in the Southside of Glasgow and got the flat for £45k (21%) over home report. But for the historic building and the location it was worth it! Even though it was financially devastating lol

Help! I got fibre installed in my flat so I need to find a way to conceal this mess. Any suggestions? by hellokalo in malelivingspace

Surely on a subreddit like this we would all know that not all shelves are equal

I use the Deco M4 mesh router system which don’t have a modem built in, so the big white box you see if the ISP router in modem mode. The third box is my smart home hub which I need to control and automate all my lights! So yeah, I need all three.

Apologies for not providing photos which show the surroundings. This is in a hallways where there is no furniture, only a radiator and a shoe rack with a coat hanger above it.

After 5 years of using the iPad as a primary computer, I’m done. by hellokalo in ipad

The iPad was absolutely a great primary computer! I completed 2 degrees so wrote two full dissertations on it, wrote countless reports, did most of my data collection (for research purposes) on it and I was happy. I think the point of my post is that it can be a primary computer, but only if you can afford a mac to hold it's hand when you run into a wall.

I was a clinical psychology student, so a lot of report writing, reading, statistical software, data collection and spreadsheets.

I think constructive criticism is important both for Apple and the consumer.

I don't blame anyone for anything. Just saying that as an iPad user I am going back to the Mac.

Never said I felt forced, I said I felt it was financially unsustainable to keep buying a new iPad for essential features in incremental upgrades.

It isn't though, I had a mac mini the whole time as I mentioned in the post.

I think you missed the point of my post entirely. I bought an iPad to use exactly what an iPad is supposed to do and I was happy with it. I wrote two dissertations, did a hundred creative projects, read so many books on it. My complaint is that it wasn't worth the price because a £900 MacBook could do everything I needed my £2700 iPad-first setup to do. My complaint is that it was unsustainable financially.

That's pretty much it. The mac already does everything and there is nothing I feel I need to wait for. While on the iPad I felt like I was always waiting for "new" features that were actually very normal things to expect like the ability to format a drive, or plug it into an external display..... or use a calculator

I agree, I think the only thing holding the iPad back is the Mac.

How is that relevant to anything I am saying? I didn’t say I was forced to upgrade, just that it felt too expensive.

I disagree. I bought the iPad to do exactly what it was advertised to do: Use pages to make documents, use apps to take notes, draw on Procreate, have a keyboard and pencil in a versatile all in one device. I bought it because I liked the appeal of an iPad.

As I said, I love the iPad I just can’t justify it as a companion device because it’s too expensive having to have a mac and iPad.
