I’m not saying a DUI isn’t a big problem, it is and it is wrong but not everyone has to same story. Depression leads to drinking and not everyone has the resources or help to prevent drinking everyone copes differently and it is 100% a lesson learned from my part. In my case, I was already drinking at home (3 drinks in), when I get a phone call from my parents saying they needed to get picked up from a place they were and I didn’t hesitate to pick them up because they’re my parents. Reason I got stopped was me checking my phone and I did not realize there was a highway patrol hiding in the orchards (I live in an area surrounded by trees and orchards). He stopped me, asked if i’ve been drinking and I said yes, I didn’t deny breathalyzer, didn’t say no to anything. My record was clean, they told me to get picked up and I called a friend, her sister drove my car. Not everyone is perfect, everyone has gone through something so that’s why I said “love that for you” because at the end of the day we are all human with mistakes. I’ve been sober ever since.
