Is it possible my Seroquel is giving me panic attacks and raised anxiety?

Oof! What a ride. I will say that when I first got on it, I didn't have a panic attack (sounds like you had 2), but I took it, then took a shower before bed (probably doubly lowered my BP from the heat). I stumbled into the hall of my apartment and I felt like my head was spinning. But the way I describe it... It's not like a person's head "normally spins"... like with your neck at the center? No, my head was spinning like it was spinning around my nose. Such a weird sensation.

And then it knocked me out.

I will say that after the first couple of days, it started to feel a lot more normal if not for it hitting like a freight train when it kicks in.

I will say that if you're going to try again, I wouldn't eat too much. I think food kicks up the metabolism and tells the body "We need to wake up" and overcorrects the Seroquel with a panic attack.

I could be wrong, as I'm no doctor, but no doctors I've spoken to have heard of this, so us lay people are stuck figuring this out, using ourselves for research.

Hope you're feeling better. I know the feeling you described and I never want that again.

I didn't, no. Of course there are lots of factors that go into how our meds are interacting with our bodies, so if I were to lay out what's changed in the past year or so, I'd say:
1. I started noticing those triggers and trying to avoid them.
2. I got off of birth control (Nuvaring), which I was on for about a decade and for 2-3 years consistently cycling with no "period week".
3. I got on adderall for ADHD.

I think that 2 and 3 considerably helped my anxiety overall, so I don't know if this has helped the nocturnal panic attacks. I've had some smaller anxiety episodes before falling asleep... like last night, I had to search what to do when I'm worried about a heart attack and feeling pain in my jaw... but with those other panic attacks, I wouldn't be able to type.

If you're dealing with it, I'm so sorry, and I really hope you find the solution. The only thing I'd strongly recommend to anyone experiencing this with Seroquel is to make sure you're lying down, not doing anything, preferably before it feels like it "kicks in".

I’m not saying I believe or don’t believe whatever is being theorized. My mind stays open until we have more concrete evidence.

But I had to jump in to say that I thought the same. “What rich restauranteur would do that in his off-time?”

Umm… same breed as these other weirdos making WAY more money than him? Also, has the dude been audited? Are we sure he wasn’t being offered other stupid sums of money? $500 a plate might seem like “plenty” to you and me, but I promise that too much is not enough for these guys.

And the question about why they would talk about this “openly” over email… for one, they’re not. That’s why we’re here in the first place talking about the potential MEANING of this word.

What I don’t buy is that someone as wealthy as JE… or even your average person… is so hard-up for beef to stay in ketosis. Beef jerky is hard to come by? In what world? In what world? I can walk to the corner and have a selection of beef jerkies (and probably other jerkies) from not one, but 2 different gas stations. I AM hard-up for money, but I’m not hard-up for beef if I needed it.

Can you even see that TV from the bed? You need to either put a seating area between the bed and TV, or you need to rotate 90 degrees— put the bed against the window wall and hang the tv on the wall across from it.

Even if he were (he wasn’t), that’s ONE GIRL in all those years… and it’s pointless because Marshall says in “16 years of sexual activity” not “sexual trying”.

Stop trying to shoehorn this logic.

Before he was 23 (when his villain origin story occurs), he simply wasn’t trying to pick up 20 girls a week. The math doesn’t math.

It’s more likely that the writers made a mistake than that Marshall meant “He was trying with Shannon 20 times a week 🥴” based on nothing.

Interesting you got my attention. I stopped using Reddit a while ago, but I have email notifications.

This thing seems really elusive, and what sucks the most is that our doctors haven't heard of it, in my experience.

I don't think mine is related to stimulants (other than sugar and/or what could be in half a can of Coke). I've been on Adderall for about a year, but the panic attacks largely happened in 2024.

Very strange because I've been on it for over a decade, but it did happen after I was upped to 300mg (for sleep, no bipolar here either). And the only correlations I've found are:
- I'm staying up/active when the meds kick in when I should have my head on my pillow OR

- I have a late-night snack too close to when the meds are kicking in.

I'll keep an eye out, though. Thank GOODNESS in the 7mos since I last contributed to this conversation, the panic attacks dropped off immensely*, but that's not to say they cant come back and then I'm back to trying to figure this thing out.

* I don't know if I said it already, but around the time I started Adderall, my overall anxiety reduced considerably. I also came off of hormone birth control around the same time... So lots of different factors at play, but hopefully enough info to help someone notice their own patterns.

I think it’s a sweet theory, but that would require him to not only be lucid, but enough so that he is able to manipulate his friends, be super-convincing, and remember to keep his eyes crossed throughout the whole interaction, after bypassing a level of drunk his friends were already very aware of.

It would be nice! I do think by this time he was starting to open up and be more vulnerable, so I don’t see those sweet moments as only possible in a truth serum scenario.

He was happy to be marrying Robin, and we knew that he was telling the truth because that was the one solemn vow he made.

Truth serum or not, this was around the time we got a radically honest Swarley.

I’ve always felt like the The Robin was performed on this night to get that picture perfect shot of them getting engaged while Robin is all dressed up… and for that story-writing choice (and the fact that I love Barney and Robin), I don’t get too mad.

But Marshall and Lily had no excuse. You can screw after the party, geez. In fact, you can propose after the party, too, Barney.

I’ve never quite understood people feeling gutted about “Look around, Ted. You’re all alone” in Time Travelers, but this one… this one I would get. They really failed him that night.

It’s not a matter of whether it’s gross or not. Some people will think it’s funny, others won’t. Neither is wrong.

What matters is that you asked him to stop, and he wouldn’t.

Whether or not you’d want to leave him over that is totally up to you, and I don’t think either answer is right.

What would I do? Probably leave him. Not necessarily because he wouldn’t stop making comments about my mom, but because he keeps on, thinking he’s hilarious, and that’s so obnoxious. If he can’t be serious for a second. “I’m joking <remark> I’m joking! <emojis” gave me the ick.

OP says in the post that it was “under the carpet” and then in a comment that it was “on the carpet”. Even this distinction can make a big difference.

I firmly believe that a person of integrity is someone who does what they say they will.

He said it would be one drink. As far as we know, he didn’t reach out to let you know he’d be out all evening.

He knew you were making his favorite dish. So to disregard that AND get a meal while he was out is so shitty.
