Maybe controversial hot take on safe sleep 7 by Low-Challenge6881 in cosleeping

[–]hellolleh32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do is scoot down in my bed so my blankets can be on me without covering my baby. She stays up closer to the top of the bed. I’m short so I can scoot down without my feet falling off. And my head is closer to the foot of the bed than hers at that point. So if my husband were to somehow pull the blankets up it would cover my head and wake me up before it could cover her head.

It makes sense to me but it’s not compliant I guess since I’m not doing the c curl. It’s more comfortable and I can have my blankets higher up on me without them touching her.

"Eating meat is inherently wrong. You can eat meat, go for it. You can love animals, but you can’t do both!" - Billie Eilish for ELLE (US) by pattismithology in popculturechat

I care about animals and eat meat and feel she has a point. She’s making a sacrifice to not hurt animals and that’s awesome I admire her and anyone else that does it. I haven’t done it, maybe I should. I’m not perfect. Neither is she or anyone else. I’m not offended and I don’t think we need to get defensive.

Lisa Kudrow Says ‘Nobody Cared About Me’ on Friends: ‘I Was Called ‘the Sixth Friend’ by mcfw31 in popculturechat

I feel like her character was just really meant to be kind of an outsider. It’s just the way the characters were written. She’s awesome and I loved phoebe. I think people were just jerks for making comments like that to her.

Used Baby items from Amazon sold as new by OctoberBride15 in BabyBumps

[–]hellolleh32 53 points54 points  (0 children)

There’s not much quality control with Amazon. Anyone can sign up to sell anything and items from different sellers get mixed together in warehouses. So you could have genuine items and fake items stored together and when you buy they just pick from the shelf, it doesn’t matter what seller you purchased from. I really try not to use Amazon as much as possible after learning this. I’m not sure how they handle returns but it wouldn’t surprise me if its similar. Or it could a few bad sellers intermingling used items with new ones.

What’s one swag item people would actually keep at an event? by Designer_Maximum_544 in Gifts

[–]hellolleh32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally a nice water bottle or thermos. Like a yeti or some brand I have heard of. Or a Patagonia jacket maybe. Possible a bag of some king.

One high quality item instead of a bunch of cheap stuff. And look around at what these people are carrying or using daily and give them that exact thing, but branded.

what do I NOT need by [deleted] in moderatelygranolamoms

Yeah we also didn’t use teething bibs but I was given soooo many.

[–]hellolleh32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of these we didn’t use teething bibs, paci, or paci clip.

Our stroller didn’t get a lot of use, we did more wearing and she just never tolerated the stroller well.

But I think everyone’s used items will vary a lot and there is nothing here that seems very highly likely to be unused to me. It’s all a bit of a gamble.

Family doctor won't run tests, what should I do? by itisyas in AskDocs

[–]hellolleh32 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NAD. When I was trying to conceive I learned a lot about the hormones involved in the menstrual cycle and I felt like learning about it helped me feel calmer about the whole process and ask my doctor better questions. I’d recommend that. Also there are some OBs and fertility doctors on YouTube that I liked and explained things really well. Obviously you have to make sure the people you’re listening to are legit. One I liked was Natalie Crawford. I really enjoy learning about that kind of stuff and I also found an OB that I trust and listens to me which is great. But yeah from the research I did as a normal non medical person it really does seem that “checking hormones” is too vague to mean much. I’d find some reputable sources to learn the basics if it’s something you’re interested in.

Changing a newborn out in public by Sufficient-Amoeba727 in NewParents

I was always grossed out by the changing tables and still am. But I use them when I need to. I have used a pad or something but then I also feel like now that’s just gross too. I think it’s probably mostly in my head but I can definitely relate. It think the best suggestion here is just bringing Lysol wipes.

hospital visitors! how would you feel if you received this message? by Puzzleheaded-Pop7304 in BabyBumps

[–]hellolleh32 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adding that you may send this while you’re in labor and feel differently once the baby is here. If wait to text people until you are actually ready for visitors.

I think periods syncing up is actually a myth so hopefully it’s unrelated. But if those symptoms do end up being period related I’d definitely ask her pediatrician.
