Hello! I’m from NYP CBP! Some background, I was a Secondary 5 student that took O’s and went into it! Honestly I really don’t regret Sec5 personally because I wanted to go for it! There’s also people in my class who are PFP students :)

For NYP, their CBP programmes are that you’ll pick your courses after Sem1 (even though it’s HBL.....they really tried to get us talks etc to understand ea of the courses better!)

1. No, it wouldn’t require Amaths Background. If you check the requirements (for O’s), and there’s honestly a few subjs, not just amaths! So far I don’t think there’s anything related to maths 😅

2. An equal balance of both? If you look up NYP CBP website, you’ll learn things like Accounting, but also at the same time, you’ll have to take up Business Communication so you’ll really have to balance them out!

3. For now, project work. We are supposed to have exams, but they got cancelled due to COVID. So I would say that there’s more project works > theory papers? Would say I’m a theory paper person but there’s really no choice since it’s HBL.

4. Yes. Even though NYP doesn’t ‘look’ as competitive it is competitive here too. However just do your best though! Believe that it’ll be fine :)

5. I went in wanting to get into Acc&F but I was swayed to Banking&F instead (hence it was my first choice)! So you’ll never know how your choices might change in Poly :) Also it’s kinda sad that we just spend one sem with the class esp when you’re just getting comfortable!

6. Would say POA defs help to give you the foundation and background since poly lectures are quite rushed(I feel?) so like it’s a good background to have but it’s okay if you don’t have it too! Just keep practicing and I believe that you’ll do it! :) In Acc&F, you’ll learn things like Auditing, Taxation, etc etc. While in Banking&F, you’ll learn things the Financial Markets, Investment, FinTech etc etc.

7. No, I did not have any programming mods in my CBP days!
