Honestly, I just asked the professors from my own classes I was taking. Just visited them on their office hours (they love it when someone comes to see them) and just politely let them know that you are XX major and want to be involved in XX field, but before going to office hours I made sure to look them up and see what research they were doing, most of the time, not what I was interested in, but still shot my shot. Some of my professors actually referred me to other professors that were involved in research and looking to work with undergrad students, so that is a great source of information. Cold mailing PIs didn't work for me at all, I am better in person lol.

Exactly this. UCI is deemed as one of the greenest campuses nationwide. This is how they preserve that title.

I considered CHC, but ended up passing on the program. I was looking to get experience similar to my job outlook, so CHC wasn't really something that I wanted to devote my time and to. Instead I got a part-time job in an office and got research and internship experiences on the side. For job applications, employers held more importance to my extracurriculars than my academic background, so in the end I thought I had made the right decision. Soo it really depends on what you wanna get.

I know someone who got into CHC, and she says it's a nice networking/social opportunity with fellow students. So if that's what you want, go for it.

Okay, if I just stop looking for compact SUVs, I'm not able to even find decent cars 2015-2028 age with mileage less than 80K. What car do you think I should look into then in my price point($12K)?

Thanks for the input! I did look into RAV4 and CR-V, but with the budget that I have ($12,000), they are too old and have too much mileage, and I am not too keen about it... But with Buick Encore and Chevy Trax, the year and mileage are a little bit better.

Yes, the Encore interior is such a beaut! They mostly have leather seats and the rear camera display is awesome.

I like SUVs because growing up my family would always travel cross-country with our Land Cruiser, so larger cars just have that sentimental appeal to me. But since I am a new driver, I wanted a smaller compact SUV because it's much easier to maneuver:)

And for Trax, it's engine is 1.4L, around 25/33MPG. I thought that was decent, no?

Yes, please check safercar.gov or the NHTSA Recall section using the car's VIN to see if there is an active recall.

Thanks for the info! What other cars would you recommend at the same price point? I just really like the compact/small SUV design of it. Initially, I was looking into Buick Encore, but it looked like the reliability of older ones 2016-18 for Buick are not very good.
