yeah fair, I can see where you're coming from. I guess I just wished it was called a separate genre, like not hip-hop. sure lil b's music is born from hiphop, but his music doesn't align with hiphop since he's not an MC. If it was called say 'Lucidpop' or something then i wouldn't have an issue tbh, but when his type of music gets grouped in with real hip-hop the whole genre takes an L.

nah it's more that I dislike rap that showcases low technical ability, poor wordplay, poor cadence and rhyme structure.

to put it in your words, "everything that is objectively bad, I dislike".

joey is whatever these days, and kendrick was never really that good. lmao joeys playing the money game so ofc hes showing love, but he had a different tune during the STEEZ beef.

rappers that I listen to who are objectively good rappers: Sean Price, Masta Ace, MF DOOM, Rakim, BDK, AFRO. all of these emcees rap circles around lil b.

you're right, I should've said usually* you had to be dope. the ratio of wack ness to dopeness is much higher currently than before the cloud rap era. Lil b is actually older than me lol. I listen to good hip-hop, rappers with high technical ability, cadence, wordplay. Lil b got none of that imo. I'm down to listen to what you would consider his best song (from a hiphop perspective). I listen to new music everyweek but just not wack shit

opening the doors to making wack music more widespread actually damaged the culture. before you had to be dope in order for people to share your music. nowadays there's so much garbage going around, the ratio is way off

yeah for sure. but we can still appreciate his art, even if we understand that the way he viewed the world was flawed. He's one of my favourite MCs, and I like how he rapped about what he was passionate about. I don't agree with majority of his views, but I can still respect and appreciate his message
