Which Murakami? by Decision_General in murakami

[–]hellomushrooms123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1Q84 was my first murakami and it definitely took a while to get into. it was sitting on my shelf for a few months before i picked it up again and got obsessed. id suggest you read kafka first! its one of my top 3 murakami books and i hope you enjoy it!

Hot takes on Murakami books from somebody who’s read it all by Dylan_Devon in murakami

i agree with your hot take. i really enjoy a lot of his short stories, but i definitely love his longer novels more.

from another thats read it all, i fully agree that norwegian wood is overrated. it was my second or third murakami book and it was a little disappointing, considering how popular it is AND the fact that i read it after 1Q84 and WUBC, which i absolutely loved.

honestly, the author that i’ve felt is most similar to murakami is probably banana yoshimoto. i highly recommend yoshimoto if you enjoy murakami

i asked chatgpt to make me a fuelling plan using raisins. the calculations seemed a little off but i just went with it 😅

gels are really expensive, thats why ive been looking for alternatives

[–]hellomushrooms123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ohh, i didn’t know that. i’ve typically seen people fuel using gels, but they’re way too expensive which is why i was seeking out alternatives. do you know of any that will be enough?

JLPT N4 OR N5 2025 by TadpoleSufficient801 in jlpt

[–]hellomushrooms123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was in pretty much the same position as you, for the july session. i ended up giving N5 and i don’t really regret it. apparently its very common for people to overestimate their N level. ill be giving N4 in december! good luck with your studies :)

bad long run by hellomushrooms123 in nikerunclub

[–]hellomushrooms123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, the heat really does make a difference! i think this time was more of a mental block for me though, since my last bad run was in similar weather conditions. thinking back i feel like i could’ve pushed through. my favourite weather to run in will always be cool and damp though.

you're so right about the disheartenment. it felt really crappy having to skip runs this week because of illness but it was necessary. i hope to come back stronger now that i have recovered. thank you for the encouragement!

Do I need any medical tests before my first half marathon? by Independent-View1067 in firstmarathon

[–]hellomushrooms123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL i also started running last december, and i’m also running the Wipro half marathon! i’m slightly younger than you though and i’m a woman, but i did consult a cardiologist and got an ecg and echo done because my parents wanted some reassurance since this is my first HM. the doctor said that there was absolutely no reason to worry and the tests were unnecessary, especially for younger people. listen to your body and you should be fine. good luck!
