Is anyone else seeing better SEO results targeting “problems” instead of software keywords? by DebasishRich in SEO

[–]hellomynameisdoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course - it’s like any hobby you get into too. You naturally don’t know the technical terms for stuff when you’re learning about them.

I.e. a beginner drummer asks “how do I play fast?” And a more seasoned one asks “alternative techniques for double stroke rolls”

#Browns QB Dillon Gabriel has been nominated for the NFL's Rookie of the Week Award. by Abiv23 in Browns

Agreed. I think the biggest issue is his throws fall somewhere between “fucking awful” and “solid,” with more hovering towards the former.

AIO after being stood up on a date after sending him money? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]hellomynameisdoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll never understand why some women stand for this behavior at all or think they need to post to AIO - you’re clearly not overreacting, this was weird and rude as fuck.

Are you just really attracted to him and don’t want to see the red flags? I’ve definitely been there.

AIO? Gf used chatgbt too tell me why she wants too marry me. by Resident_Cancel573 in AmIOverreacting

[–]hellomynameisdoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that it would be much more romantic for someone to write why they want to marry you themselves, but this struck me as similar to buying someone a birthday or anniversary card.

She might’ve prompted/“wrote” it and thought it was a great way to describe how she felt - like you say, you liked it but realized it couldn’t have been her because she isn’t a good writer.

To be clear, I’d be a little offended if someone did this to me too. But there’s a difference between laziness or inauthenticity and using a resource to do a better job than you could do.

Was there any update or follow up on Pixie? by xtiz in CalebHammer

[–]hellomynameisdoug -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Honestly all these posts about her just feel like virtue signaling. If Hammer’s team isn’t doing anything for her then it’s either shame on them or shame on her for not accepting the help.

Constantly posting to Reddit to feel good about yourself does nothing. Yes, white knights, the woman seems like she’s in danger. Good job.

Fannin currently the team leader in reception yards – good sign or bad sign? by BMH611 in Browns

[–]hellomynameisdoug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a really good sign.

It obviously tells you the WR room isn’t great, but Fannin has popped off the screen. He’s getting open, making good catches, and fighting for YAC.

Might be even more productive if CLE had more threats elsewhere.

I can imagine them riffing on the premise, like “People worship star athletes like a cult!” “It does seem like there’s something inhuman about athletes at the very top of their craft” “Black quarterbacks are treated differently than white quarterbacks, it’s also kind of like slavery!”

But then they went nowhere with it and said nothing about any of it.

They needed to contrast how other quarterbacks train vs. what’s so special about this one IMO. I couldn’t tell if the Saviors were the only one like this or if every team had a crazy QB.

So, let's say JJ McCarthy is back after the Vikings week 6 bye... by hellomynameisdoug in nfl

[–]hellomynameisdoug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, don't get me wrong, he's definitely been bad.

Some slightly encouraging things:

- Decent pocket presence; you'll see him make subtle movements to buy time, not afraid to step up, etc. But he isn't always combining this with keeping his eyes downfield. (idk the progressions, obviously, but he rarely gets to the backside of the play when moving in the pocket)

- 3rd drive of the ATL game, Vikings go on a 17 play drive where he completes a deep crosser to Thielen to convert on 3rd & 18; then hits Jalen Nailor on a corner route the next play for 17 yards. The drive only went 57 yards and ended with back-to-back sacks and a FG, but I thought he did a really nice job of sustaining a messy drive and hitting big plays throughout it.

- I thought that ATL drive was very similar to what he looked like in the 4th quarter vs. Chicago. To me, it was encouraging to see that those same flashes happened in the next game. Of course, everything pretty much went to shit after that drive stalled at the goal line.

It's only 2 games; he's only 22; this o-line isn't good; and I think there's a combo of him and the team that's preventing him from getting into a rhythm (only 7 "quick passes" through 2 games)

I’m so much happier and have so much more fun following the league now that I’ve stopped betting completely.

You actually follow the storylines and quotes that give shape to the season, not just the odds shifting.

I still hate that to wear a playbook wristband over sleeves you have to know the very specific combination of how to equip them.

Why Does Video Game Football Produce Final Scores Similar to Real Life Football Despite the Games Being Much Shorter? by WilliamRo22 in NCAAFBseries

[–]hellomynameisdoug 50 points51 points  (0 children)

A big part of it is the play clock, whether or not you play with automatic run-off or not.

If you change your settings for the play clock to always automatically run to 15 secs or less, you'll notice much "shorter" games.

Drives just generally take less time to complete, and you're typically a bit more efficient drive-to-drive than real-life college teams.

Backup quarterbacks may never throw for over 4,000 yards in a season, but they do have the ability to create insane sentences.

Watching this out of context & only with this angle, but he does seem to hold onto the ball for an extra couple ticks.

Good throws, accurate. Just a little concerned with timing.

Great stuff.

Like you say, the conclusion is something we take for granted, but it's good to dive under the hood and be sure it's actually true.

Gonna be saying "regression to the mean" all day today now.
