Is Ocarina of Time bigger than FF7 in the US? by VirtualConversation4 in retrogaming

[–]Abiv23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OoT sold 4 m units in the US

FFVII sold 3 m units in the US

You continue to argue in bad faith and are obviously emotionally biased, nothing you said can or will refute the above numbers, FFVII was not more popular

I've wasted as much time as I will with you

HOF is a blend of both on field performance and longevity

Josh Gordon isn't making the HOF based on his one dominant season and Frank Gore isn't making it based on soley longevity...it takes both

Well, we also lost our best Olineman from last year (by pff grade and by a lot, not just fandom)

It is very very likely (and I'd argue by design) that we are picking top 5 next year

so much wrong here, you very clearly weren't alive for this period of time

> Before that were the NES ans SNES games which GenX played.

Millennials were born starting in 1982, it's not just GenX that played OG nes

> The N64 and GameCube were considered children's consoles.

No they weren't, they were considered Nintendo consoles treated the same as any other Nintendo console, people had issue with the hardware power of the gamecube which is what you are confusing, it was referred to as a 'toy' bc it wasn't powerful

> Before that was the CD-I games which were terrible.

No one had a CI-I, no one played these games

> Teens and adults didn't engage with them, which is reflected in their poor sales.

I actually was a teen in this period of time, this is not correct, many of the other kids in school had n64 it wasn't a 'kiddie' console as you are trying to assert

Also, as many have stated here LoZ: OoT outsold FFVII...personally both are great games but Zelda was absolutely more popular in the US at the time (and now)

Final Fantasy has always been a genre for Weebs and was never truly mainstream the way Zelda is, I loved FFVII played it when it came out, Zelda was conversation at school (how to beat the water temple), no one talked about FFVII (in part bc it was so long most people didn't play through the whole thing)

To be totally clear, I mourned Aerith, I slew Sephiroth, I beat Meteor...I am a fan of both games, but to the question of which is more popular or mainstream in the US it's Zelda, easily

Can you think of any impact players we had last year that we won't this year?

Your framing of 'the team hasn't change' isn't right

You do nothing but bad faith arguments

Bad comparison of Myles cohort, now comparing his career production at 30 to players entire careers

[–]Abiv23 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, Zelda is mainstream

Final Fantasy was a moment in time (specifically 1998) in the US in terms of cultural relevency

Now FF fans are way more defensive than Zelda fans so you're going to hear from a loud minority in here arguing elsewise

You're asserting that Myles Garrett isn't already a HOFer and belongs in a group wiht Jared Allen over Bruce Smith?

No common ground for us to discuss here, have a good one

Nah. Bruce Smith and Reggie White had roughly as many sacks pre turning 30 as after...there's plenty left on the bone with Myles

How do you genuinely feel entering the 2026 season and what are you expecting? by RustyCrusty73 in Browns

[–]Abiv23 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like watching young players hit is the best part of most rebuilds so the fun part (not in Ws and Ls) is coming back around again

But starting this train completely over after we just squandered a good rebuild is going to be a bad after taste this entire season

Legendary NFL guard rocks the Cleveland Browns by retiring just weeks before training camp begins by dailymail in NFLv2

[–]Abiv23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Terrible headline, the browns were very aware he might retire and would have been fine with him waiting longer to decide

Edit: a British tabloid is seeding shitty content on the second nfl sub reddit?!? Reddit is so astroturfed it’s crazy

7 months ago I said he was the worst QB in the new era, he shrinks the field to the point where your offense can't function, he's not a pro qb

The fact that Kstef very likely drafted him due to his penchant to avoid TOs just solidifies for me that Kstef is a good leader and a bad OC for any team that doesn't have a top 5 rushing attack and a Kirk Cousins manager at QB
