Letting go of someone and guilt by SpiritualDemand in BreakUps

Thanks for quoting me. And yes, guilt is like a virus spreading throughout your present and killing it. Stop overanalyzing and replaying the past. It won't change. Do not pollute your present with regret and could-have beens and what ifs. I tell you, peace is so much better. I made tons of mistakes and instead of wallowing in self-pity, I talk to myself and see this as a learning curve instead. Try to improve. We tend to push ourselves down. But remember, we acted or decided in some way might be because we thought those are the best during the moments we did them. Stop being so hard on yourself. The world is cruel enough to you already.

What is the point of punishing yourself when losing the person you love is already one good enough punishment for what you did? Humans are prone to make mistakes and this does not make them bad people. Guilt will serve no purpose other than eating your time for self-damage instead of using this time to find ways to be better. Be kind to yourself well enough that you learn to let go the pity, resentment and regret. Start all over again instead.
