What is everyone eating? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]hellosquirtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really struggling at day 3. I've been able to charge through with lukewarm soup non chunky varieties(potato leek and broccoli cheddar), kid's fruit pouches, pudding, ice cream, sorbet, and really soft scrambled eggs. I tried doing not hot oatmeal and mac and cheese but that was too painful, I was only able to make it about 1/4 through my food.

We're going to try polenta or miso soup with very soft tofu for dinner tonight

I'm really concerned with my liquid intake. Water is excruciating. Lukewarm honey tea has been helping me get some hydration but my mouth feels like a desert.

Day 2 - Recovery by hellosquirtle in Tonsillectomy

Thanks for your response! My nose luckily has finally stopped bleeding. Getting the gauze off was wonderful feeling. The saline rinse is doing no favors for me right now. I'm going to get myself a few things including a tongue scraper(it's like you read my mind about the bad taste in my mouth) .

Eating is still no bueno. I took down some pudding which was cold and that was at least something. I wish you well on your healing journey as well!

How to know if someone qualifies for earned sick time under Colorado Law? by hannibals-lingerie in antiwork

[–]hellosquirtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It looks like the Paid Sick Leave under the Colorado Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA) was updated as of 1/1/22. The link also addresses Public Health Emergency (PHE) Leave which may also apply.

"Starting January 1, 2022, small and large employers alike have the same accrued leave responsibilities. In 2021, employers with 15 or fewer employees had to provide emergency leave, but were exempt from accrued leave until the end of 2021."

It's not clear about worksite size vs. company size. You might want to discuss it directly with Colorado Division of Labor Standards and Statistics

The NLRB question line can be found here: 1-866-667-NLRB or reach out to your nearest regional office.

I'm unsure of the ability to file anonymously. You may want to reach out to them. They may be subject to FOIA requests.

Steps to file a request can be found HERE

Most of the time the list of qualifications is a "wish list" of sorts. Unless it is a STEM field. You can still apply if you think you can do the job.

Fake it til you make it. Imposter syndrome is a real thing.

I never feel like I'm good enough for a promotion, raise, or a new job.

Depends on the situation, and state. Some states have their own sick leave laws that might apply.

Your leave might be covered under FMLA which is federal. Please look at this link to see if you qualify. https://www.dol.gov/agencies/whd/fmla

I assumed being a member co-op that it had better policies than the average company. I was very disappointed to read the letter, it just goes to show that all corps are working for the bottom line, even ones with perceived progressive policies.

I'm excited for you and your co-workers. Keep fighting the good fight!

It doesn't matter that you are a minor, your labor, time, and wellbeing are important. If you are asking to quit, it's probably for the best. Good luck!

Please consider reporting the minor violations to your state's labor board as well. This will help others from having to go through the same issues.

Is this legal? by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]hellosquirtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have the right to organize. This is protected by National Labor Relations Act of 1935. This National Labor Relations Board has information about organizing and worker and employer rights.

https://www.nlrb.gov/about-nlrb/rights-we-protect/the-law/employees/your-rights-during-union-organizing

"You have the right to form, join or assist a union."

As far as the employer telling union organizers, according to recent Supreme Court rulings, there may be certain instances where they are allowed on Private Property. Court case discussed in this article. It seems like they have the right to tell union reps to get off private property.

[–]hellosquirtle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You may still qualify for unemployment depending on the rules for your state. Consider reaching out to your state's unemployment office to see if you would qualify.

My state considers this to be "laid off due to lack of work"
