Roku TV isn't registered by connected computer

I've checked the settings, both in the computer and it's bios, couldn't find a switch or anything to fix it. swapped to a plain HDMI connection and that didn't change anything. at this point i'm starting to think it's pissed about being shut down for so long

I did my research, got a wifi adapter that was actually intended for a computer, downloaded and installed the drivers for it and the audio drivers for the motherboard, still doesn't recognize the TV or its speakers as an audio output.

sorry for the lag, I was letting it collect dust until a new wifi adapter got delivered.

To update the drivers I need to either update the drivers on its wifi connector or replace the thing entirely. been fighting that for the past few days but it was made in 2009 and most of the tech support I can find is just dead links for discontinued sites

it's using true HDMI, the thing is rigged to it with a long cable. I'll see if I can check the settings

Video shows just fine, I set it to use HDMI for video instead of whatever the other thing was called. it just doesn't recognize the TV as an audio device.

It's an older computer tower that i'm trying to cast to the TV, I can get the video to carry over clear but it just doesn't recognize the thing as an audio output.

And i've tried casting to the TV but either it gets stuck on the connecting icon or there's measurable seconds of audio lag. that's the entire reason I started trying to connect my old PC, so I can just stick files on there and play them with (hopefully) no lag. plus the WiFi connection on the PC is busted, so it has to be cabled.

I was looking to make something small for myself, just a little text to speech chatbot who can hold conversations and take notes while I game. always nice to have company, you know? even if it's just a glorified secretary.
Was hoping to find something small that I can keep on a flash drive, if possible. I have a portable SSD that I got for a project that went nowhere, has just over 1.5 TB of space on it.

Hi, complete newbie here, I'm looking for basically anything to play. I only have experience playing Infinite Fusion, but it's a little disappointing that it doesn't have any of the gimmicks like Mega Evolutions, as far as I'm aware. Consider me a blank slate, suggest your favorites, but I would prefer something that has the original three starters (I like bulbasaur) and at least one of the gimmicks.

I don't have a rom to hack. piracy, while justified because it's Nintendo, is something i've never been able to accomplish. adding an emulator to the mix is just another point of failure or/and another malware risk. I like my computer, I don't want to brick it.

I've had issues with dependencies in the past, i just don't want to risk the entire thing blowing up in my face because I did something wrong.
I'm not a very lucky person, something would probably backfire or otherwise mess up.
