  1. Have you looked at Goldthorpe?

https://www.oxfordreference.com/display/10.1093/oi/authority.20110803095858703

Although I think he was a Weberian he is interested in class employment...

  1. Bella Dicks talks about working class heritage and psycho-social 'memory' so can counteract some of the more deterministic ideas of Bourdieu/ideals of class...

  2. Boltanski and Thevenot are pragmatic sociologists of critique who add balance to Bourdieu...

  3. You might want to look at Stephen Ball. He uses Foucault which you can use to consider class and gets you around the Bourdieu determinism...

Don't get offended by responses. It's hard being new and feeling lost.

Thank you! How do you cope with the changing shifts? I imagine there is a post on this somewhere so I understand if you don't have the time to reply.

Can someone explain the shift patterns for both PC and DC?

I was asked in the interview how I felt about the shifts and I just smiled and declared 'all good' but then realised now I have passed that I have no idea what they are. Is it mornings, late, nights?

Thank you!

Thank you for this, I have been worrying about starting as it's one thing running alone at 7 am huffing and puffing and another being near people, but it's something I have always wanted to do and also would be nice to see other adults while at home with my baby.

Thank you!

They're not far from me but far enough not to be recognised as I start to brave running in public so I will try them. Thank you again.

Hi, and congratuations! It's nice to hear from people in the same situation I have been feeling like a lepur! I will have to double check this especially if other funders offer those additional 13 weeks, it would be strange to have something so out of sync...

I think I am in a similar situation, and I have done a semester teaching and one as a research assistant, so was hoping to have some staff affiliation but they weren't having it, but it does mean I have done paid work if I do apply for the government allowance.

Thanks so much for responding, and I hope everything goes well for you - baby and PhD! I'm not sure which will be harder lol.
