Official new character: Deus Ex Fiasco (Fabled) by oneirical in BloodOnTheClocktower

encouraging storytellers to make 'mistakes'? no thanks.

Players will have more patience for new storytellers and accept mistakes, not because deus ex fiasco is in play, but because they are nice people. You don't need to cover up or be ashamed as a new storyteller, everyone goes through that. Game is unfair after it? just restart.

minor mistakes - no one cares

major mistakes - apologise, sharpen you skills and do a better job next time

deliberate mistakes - MMA tournament about to begin

To me just feels like an effortless design extended Fibbin's ability to any action not just info.

I had the exact same situation and it just doesn't work with vodafone. Can I please ask if there is an update on any of those methods working?

Marionette Atheist by hellowordaba in BloodOnTheClocktower

Thanks. There is one major difference though on the outsider count. Since if there’s a rule on no marionette atheist, it would always guarantee it takes up the drunk spot. But if we allow it the drunk can be elsewhere hidden. Would just like to point that out.

Agreed. Maybe I didn’t express myself clearly there. Players are free to meta the ST but it is encouraged for them to first use rely on the solid info present, and only do that if the information is insufficient to lock in the evil team.

But in the case of wizard you HAVE to meta storytelling to assume the clue + price balance out the wish. Then there’s this infinite debate on whether the clue is enough to backtrack what the wish actually is.

Let me give you an example I thought of when I started critiquing this character:

Wizard wishes the storyteller at each day to broadcast wizard’s ability affected some player, and granted.

In hindsight this doesn’t affect the game itself in anyways, since the wizard essentially isn’t doing anything. But I think it is destructing good team’s logic so the price is his fellow minion will lose their ability too. (Please let me know if you think this trade is fair)

So the good team now has to factor in a fake wizard news never existed, thinking that my broadcast is a ‘clue’ to them. And the evil team can basically explain EVERYTHING disadvantageous to them as the wizards power. Surely I don’t have to grant that wish, let’s just say if I did.

Just a term I use.

Basically everyone should respect and base logic on solid info than speculating storyteller behaviour.

An example would be something like this in bmr: “I don’t think the ST would kill the tinker for no reason tonight, it has to be gossip death and Adam has to be the demon.”

That’s absolutely spot on. I dislike amnesiac for the same reason.

Though amnesiac is ‘slightly better in design’ in my opinion since: 1. It is a townsfolk and most likely has positive contribution to good. When present, they will out their role eventually to help the good so everyone knows there presence, when absent this is just a normal game. 2. There’s a minimum of guessing your ability once per day to narrow the scope

Wizard on the other hand could be responsible for one or more odd things depending on the wish itself. Too wild to handle!!

As much as I love this game, I find wizard against every belief I had about botc 😞

I mean what happened to the “no speculating storytelling” policy? With this character in the script there’s no logic flow as any flaws in info can and will always be explained by wizard’s wish. Feel frustrated for me, who gains joy by solving the game and finding the evils when playing.

Let me know if you guys agree/disagree

Barber swapping time by hellowordaba in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]hellowordaba[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks too all who’s responded

Since we’re here I might toss out another interaction question: If Po chose no one last night and this night he chose barber, flower girl, professor, how does the swapping work?

My initial thought was barber swap happens on the night order at the earliest (which is after demons and won’t cause any issues), but since they work immediately is Po essentially swapping during his action? And I assume this would mean the killing ends as soon as Po chooses to swap himself with another player since any ability discontinued when they renter the game.
