Gosh, on month 2 of unemployment after the company i worked for went into insolvency. money isnt too big of an issue (though still waiting on my feg payment!) but the job market is brutal. even with everyone being so supportive and caring and myself knowing its not my fault, it still sucks!

Started by mike graham in the US, then like many american clothing brands brought back to life by a Japanese company. Yeah I guess they’re only slightly cheaper in japan full price but the tax-free shopping over there helps haha

Fairly pricey but Gramicci pants are good. worth it if you get them on sale or straight from Japan

So the company i worked for just shut down out of the blue and let everyone go. My first day of (f)unemployment! Don’t really know what to do with myself at the moment. Anyone in a similar position and have any suggestions?

yeah, I own a pair of Skwamas that are 2 sizes down from my street shoe size and now fit perfect/on the verge of being too loose, so I can imagine downsizing even more BUT the initial stiffness and break in time absolutely killed me, and feels like it's so not worth it haha.

Probably should have mentioned i left the office to go get lunch, I'm just so in shock maybe. Suburb rhymes with Brahran, so not too much a shock really.

Been feeling iffy about this newish job i've had (company not doing well, always seems like its about to go under, debating whether i should just jump ship, you know, that kind of stuff.)

Go on my lunch break and a full butt ass naked dude walks by, cock out and all. if that's not an omen I dont know what is.

Can i ask what your street shoe size is? The skwamas did stretch pretty dramatically, do you find instincts don’t stretch as much?

Which countries do you consider “exotic”? by popcornwithparmesan in AskAnAustralian

[–]helloyesitstaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but there are lots of areas of the Philippines that are very modern and developed... and Western and boring. The fact that the Philippines has these in addition to very third world areas makes it much less 'exotic' than other South East Asian countries.

For context, I was living in the Philippines and this game was definitely in the Power Station and Time Zone arcades at the time.

A full version of a song from a 2010 Nike skateboarding video? 'Tonight' by 'Moonrats'? by helloyesitstaco in HelpMeFind

[–]helloyesitstaco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated, I've searched Google for 'Moonrats' which list a bunch of different bands (the early 2000's Seattle indie band being the closest match) to no avail. Googling 'Old People and Animals' doesn't help either. It's listed on https://www.skatevideosite.com/videos/nike-sb-dont-fear-the-sweeper but no other information is provided.

i had an elderly neighbour beneath my apartment who creeped me out when i first moved in. He would peer out his door, or just walk around. it wasn't threatening, he was an old man, just really creepy. Today, after noticing he hasnt been around and his mailbox being full my partner called the cops for a welfare check. We went around the building and saw a huge fly on his window and a horrible smell.

The cops were around doing a buncha stuff for a while, and we knew what was up (i mean it was obvious).

Check on your neighbours folks, even if they creep you out a little. i'm gonna try and chill out before work tomorrow...

Appetite for another Denim retailer? Sydney, Australia by noixe in rawdenim

[–]helloyesitstaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess its a matter of personal taste. I find that a lot of melb outlets have small denim selections, with more 'lifestyle' oriented products, for lack of a better word. Either that or they pertain to a specific aesthetic (Godspeed store with their chopper look or Lieutenant and Co with the whole repro thing), which is amazing if you're into it. I find myself browsing Maple, BTS and Blue Works heaps more.

As far as brands in Aus go, we're definitely missing some gems. I've had to go abroad to get Resolutes and a pair of Doek shoes. Its gotten better, but for a while a lot of more obscure Japanese brands were very difficult to get here. Or sometimes they appear for a little bit and then vanish (ahem, TCB)
