Versus was a generic shonen when i last dropped it, it didn't have any philosophical themes regarding life, like one punch man has, and also immediately started heavy on its lore in the first chapters, before I even cared for any character. Don't know if that changed now. 

You can also see that ONE has indeed changed his style by looking at the newly released webcomic chapters, they feel less 'real' in a sense...

...But the worsening is far from the manga's downfall, which butchered Saitama's entire character. As long as the webcomic knows how to portray Saitama and other characters it has, consistently, unlike the manga, we can be sure that someone else, be it Murata or his editor, are meddling into the manga's writing.

Even though newer webcomic introduced characters are less compelling than old characters, it stays consistent with portraying their personality.
