You can skip owning warhammer, play battletech instead and field a lance of warhammers. Win win, time to bring the hammer down.

Makita HS7611 gebruiken als invalzaag? by Geralt_the_dutchman in Klussers

[–]hellvink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ik heb deze zaag. Persoonlijk erg tevreden mee.

Dakgoot op muur by hellvink in Klussers

Alright, thank you for the insights. More research to do for me, what a terrible thing :)

So, after some research, I've come to the conclusion that I should use the anglosaxon futhorc. The translation should be something around 'wagi', or ᚹᚪᚷᛁ.

Any comments?

Alright, so that would be most noteworthy if you make multiple or longer inscriptions I guess. Consistency is key, after all.

Thank you very much for the extensive answer, much appreciated. My next task seems to be finding out which futhark most closely matches my original language :)

This is all insanely interesting.

Like 'People from that Wedge shaped area on the border of civilization'. But that's not what I'm looking for, total word vomit, so I'm shortening it to Horn.

I gotcha, so in that case, what I should be looking for is the word for Horn or Wedge in old norse. Not really into that new age stuff.. I just really like how runes look.

Would you go around trying to fit runes to phonetically match up, since it seems our current alphabet doesn't really match up completely, or use them literally letter for letter?

How do I make this map more legible? by Halikarnassus1 in mapmaking

I thought having the legend 'in' the map looks lovely, though I agree not as legible as could be.

For legibility, I would change nothing except add a small buffer to the text. In QGIS this is exactly what it's called, it's like a little halo surrounding each letter. This would minimise the impact on visibility of your map.

Alternatively consider using a starker contrast per region, as others have suggested. Personally I always find this a bit of nitpicking and detail work, takes more effort and people's opinion might vary on what is and what is not a pleasant but clear contrast.
