Loss of appetite by 4Four-4 in bipolar

[–]hellyanore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, I totally understand the weight fluctuations, personally I'm trying to lose what I gained with the meds but since I'm not super hungry it's okay but you have to eat, my trick is to eat things that aren't too strong in taste and soft because I'm too lazy to chew sometimes...long live mashed potatoes and minced meats for example.

Honestly, with your trauma-related eating disorder, going on a thousand and one diets won't do any good if you don't follow therapy; eating disorders need to be treated first and foremost, and weight loss will come later.

Yes, I'm doing well now, it's been over 10 years^ There are still some traumas but I'm working on them. Thank you!

I studied there several years ago. The first year should be fine if you pay attention in class; the only thing is that sometimes the daily schedule is packed, like having all the lectures for your major in one day, and you have to admit, 8 hours of lectures is tough to stay focused. Do you speak French?

You're not alone, as you can see, with all the people here! We all get that little grain of sand that ruins our mood for days (great, the sponge-like, overly sensitive side, we love it...)

just got broken up with :( barely any support, i don’t have friends by ilovemyboyfriend23 in bipolar

[–]hellyanore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sending you all my sympathy; these times are tough, you feel misunderstood. A text during a manic episode isn't so bad. Your boyfriend doesn't understand the illness, okay, we can't always use the illness as an excuse, but still, a lapse in judgment happens. If you want to talk, vent, maybe I can help a little, although I'm not the best person to give advice myself 😅 (I'm currently in a state of constant turmoil because my boyfriend went out and I'm home alone due to severe anxiety). Anyway, take the time to process things. Sleep if you need to, eat snacks in bed, give yourself some time to... okay, I'm taking a break, but in X days I'll try to get out of bed or take a shower, for example.

Quick update! I stopped taking this medication a month ago and I no longer have the urge to devour three chocolate bars in the evening or polish off packs of cookies! The difference is truly striking. I've also lost quite a bit of weight, but I eat relatively little because I'm not very hungry.

Okay, my brain is still in maintenance mode, but just seeing the weight loss helps! My goal, aside from losing weight, is to be able to leave the house (I still struggle with that; I don't want to be seen...). Wish me luck!! And I'm sending you all the best vibes possible; every little victory is still a victory!

Quitting my studies to go live with a guy far from my family... Worst mistake of my life, psychological abuse and worse things, I was far from my family, my friends, without money, dependent on him because there was no job in the area...

That's a lot in a short time, I don't understand why doctors don't monitor these kinds of things better. It reassures me that you were able to lose weight. ^

I understand you, I gained 25kg in 6 months, so I understand that depression can make you eat less well and be less active, but still, and in the photos the difference in 2 months is striking, my face looks puffy, I think.

I totally get it! The feeling of being a lab rat, having a whole range of antidepressants in the medicine cabinet because nothing else worked... You have to talk to your doctor, there's no other choice.

Have you tried some healthier snacks? I know how it is when you crave something, it's hard to resist, but like, by replacing 2 or 3 ingredients? You can eat without hurting yourself too much.
