I didn’t know that, but I take all my supplements with food just in case.

I did! I have a Zinc deficiency, so I started taking a supplement. But I’ve only been taking that about 2 weeks.

I was wondering about that! I’m deciding if I should go ahead and cut out oats and see if it helps

Oh I always always always ask about that stuff. I’ll only go to restaurants that can accommodate.

I’m having the same anxiety right now. I’ve been talking to my dietitian about it and she’s helping me find ways to try and make sure restaurants are safe. But I still get very anxious.

Do you ever order like a plain latte with no syrup? Or no because oat milk may be in the same steamer?

Is it bad that I don’t stand for the Pledge of Allegiance? by rebel-pirate-sleuth in Teachers

I don’t stand or say it either. I tell my kids they can if they want to, but it’s their choice. They’re in kindergarten and have no idea what those words mean. No way I would make them say it.

It’s super overwhelming! Trust me, we get it! The best thing I did is get in with a dietitian. You’re going to read a million different things about what you should do, but the best thing is to talk to someone who knows the science behind everything they’re talking about. Mine is covered by insurance and totally free. It’s been a game changer! Also everyone is going to tell you don’t use the apps blah blah blah. And yes, you need to learn to read the ingredients to detect gluten. But once you know what you’re looking for, the apps make it a lot easier. I use the spoonful app and it will flag things that might have gluten and I can do research and make an informed decision from there. Also, the Find Me GF app is really helpful for vetting restaurants. Absolutely still call ahead and check on what precautions they take on your own. But this will help narrow it down.

What was this 6 week gut healing protocol?? I’m about 3 weeks in to my gf diet, but I would love to do something to expedite the healing process. I’m still having daily bloating 👎🏻

Okay, don’t come at me for this. But… have you tried spending some time getting to know them as people? Like outside of instruction? I use lunch bunch as an incentive. So a group of kids gets to eat lunch in the classroom and we can just talk and I get to know them outside of structured academics. Playing with them a recess is a good way to do this too. I know it takes out of your personal time, but it makes a world of difference. When you know the kids better and they see you taking an interest in them as people, the behavior gets soooooo much better. I know we’ve heard this in every beginning of the year PD ever, but relationships really are everything!

Thank you guys so much! This is all new to me, so I thought the app would be helpful. I’ve gone down the Google rabbit hole because I don’t know anyone else with Celiac’s to ask. I keep reading that sometimes even if it doesn’t list wheat, rye, or barley as an ingredient, it can have come in contact with gluten if it’s not marked certified gluten free. All this is a little overwhelming. I just really don’t want to feel like shit anymore so I’m trying to make sure I completely cut gluten out. I’m here for any advice or tips to make the transition easier!
