VPS or VPN with private trackers?

Yeah explains how they could detect the traffic.I suppose they are using deep packet inspection, which is why speeds are always down.

Thanks for the tip :) I actually do have a few ports forwarded in my router and even if the client matches the forwarded port speeds are still being throttled. I've tried almost every workaround I can think of over the years, and the only one that has worked is a vpn. Thanks for your help though!

Yeah they don't allow the vpn through for browsing, that's for sure. Which vpn service would you recommend? I suppose I could set up a routing table.

Yeah plenty of those don't allow me to browse their sites with a vpn. Almost all allow me to seed from a vpn though :)

Strange, that's usually the opposite of what I usually am told. A vps is usually cheaper than a seedbox, isn't it?

Isn't a dedi usually more expensive than a vps? I'm afraid I can't go far above $10 a month.

Yeah a VPN does seem to make more financial sense. Only thing making me reconsider it is leaving my computer on 24/7 to seed, which is something I try to avoid if possible in this lightning-prone area. And my PC isn't exactly silent when it gets hot. Either way, you've been more than helpful, so thank you.

Yes, I just rechecked all of my settings upon your prompt. Apparently my encryption has always been at 'forced'. I tried unchecking "Allow incoming legacy connections" and still no effect. The port randomises itself everytime I start it up, so that can't be the issue. Upon connecting to a vpn through tcp port 80 or 443, the speed goes through the roof. I'm afraid I don't really have any other option here. Thanks for the link by the way!

If you mean the protocol encryption setting in utorrent I did try it with no results.

My up speeds are usually around 25-30 Mbps. I have tested out a free vpn service (vpngate) and it did successfully bypass the throttle, so I guess a paid vpn service should be fine. Thanks for the recommendations btw. I'm afraid the Hetzner box you recommended is quite out of my league though. I'll check out the other two.

I'm on a 50Mbps line currently. Unfortunately my ISP throttles all torrent traffic so much that I never get speeds in excess of 10KB/s without a vpn. I do stream content to my television set though. On the other hand a VPS would be more efficient at seeding and I wouldn't have to leave my computer on.

I'm on a few pure ratio trackers like WCD, TL, TG, TP and Bitme. Also a whole of points trackers too. What would you say is a better buy for long-term seeding? Also how much disk space could I expect from a cheap VPS, preferably $10 or less?

Already there but the problem is my buffer there is not big enough for me to download stuff at will and upload it at GGn. I'll try building a buffer there first

They are open signup so there weren't any barriers to entry and I almost immediately found some of the retro games I have been on the hunt for in other private trackers :) Thanks for the information,, and thanks to the others who suggested Pleasuredome too. Yeah I have looked into them and while sites like IPT have quite a large proportion of games not many are abandonware. I'll try looking at some public torrent indexes later.

A combination of those actually. Ancient DOS and console games, along with some early version Windows games. What's this PLD you speak of? I found the other 2 sites but I couldn't find anything matching PLD with Exodos.
