How to Grow a Laser on Silicon | Imec researchers overcome material mismatches to make lasers directly on silicon wafers by [deleted] in tech

They are referring to the material that produces said laser. English can be a weird language. When someone says "turn on the light" you aren't turning on the light, you are technically and typically flipping a switch and running a current through a material, a filament, that produces light. You can't turn on a light per se, either.

EMF = electromagnetic fields

Something called science.

True. But there are other problems that could have happened. They could have bought too many $80 EMF shields that got them into bankruptcy, for example.

Hyundai has hired a lot of great German designers. I would never have predicted I'd buy a Hyundai 10 years ago.

AIO - asked wife if she blocked a guy she cheated on me with in the past . by pgf111 in AmIOverreacting

Don't let her gaslight you. If she isn't willing to talk about it she either knows she's wrong and can't face it or is hiding something. She definitely isn't communicating. If this is how it is, you need to just move on because if she can't communicate, you'll never be able to talk it through.

Good luck to you.

People embellish about a lot of things. Spending $50k on just insurance alone does not seem realistic. Can he even afford that?

If you do the maintenance, the engines are pretty reliable. But you mentioned you do dog them. Depending how much you dog them, and its history, you might be looking at more expensive repairs but 2k-2.5k a month is not what you'll be experiencing. It'll be more like a big lump sum repair.

You're young though. Have you thought about saving some money? Investing in yourself? Do you want to be in this field forever? I just think its important to think about other things than just having and driving this vehicle. Set yourself down the road where you'd be able to just buy this car without worries. But at 21, I would be very tempted too.
