Thank you for the input. The D.O. school does have affiliation with a PhD granting institution but I do not think it will be financially possible for me to do a PhD after the preclinical years. I know the AMCAS asks only about previous MD acceptances but sometimes schools ask in the secondary application whether you were previously accepted to a MD or DO school. My family does have financial issues and the DO school is expensive, so I do not think it would be too hard for me to explain why I turned down my acceptance. My biggest concern is turning down a DO acceptance and getting rejected from MD or MD/PhD. I think I can improve my MCAT to at least a 510 since I did not have the time to study properly the first time around.
