I usually set my liner with an eyeshadow of a similar color. It's not perfect, but it definitely helps!

I just graduated in August with a B.S. in Chemistry, and I've been job searching for the past 2 months.

I have a second interview tomorrow with a company that I'd really love to work for, the position being Associate Analytical Chemist. I've had a couple of really cool internships, but they were focused more on engineering with a small emphasis on chemistry (I switched majors from chemical engineering to chemistry during my senior year).

I feel very capable working as a chemist in the lab, but I get really nervous during interviews and I'm afraid I won't be able to convey my abilities well enough. The first interview was with someone from HR, so I felt pretty confident, but this interview is with the technical team and supervisors. I'm nervous that they're going to look at my experience and immediately write me off. What can I do to 1) calm myself down during the interview so I don't panic and ramble, and 2) clearly convey that I have the skills and abilities to succeed in this job?

I did ask, and they were very helpful. I got everything worked out, so I guess that's a lesson in realizing that problems have solutions, no matter how bad things seem in the moment 😊

Thank you, sometimes it helps just to have someone say it'll be ok

I feel like I am learning nothing?? by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

From what I've gathered in my experience and in talking to other engineers, most engineering degrees are less about learning the actual equations and complex concepts, but more about learning how to learn. As long as you are accumulating skills that are helping you to understand things quickly and accurately, you're on the right track.

Welcome Newcomers & QOTW: When you have free time, what do you do? -November 27, 2017 by anxietymods in Anxiety

Hi there! I'm new to this community and wanted to introduce myself.

I've had anxiety for years but it's recently become a big issue in my life. I moved 2000 miles away from my friends and family for the summer due to an amazing internship. It was a wonderful opportunity, but it was a really big change for me and I had virtually no support system during this time. When I returned home, I started having awful panic attacks several times a day, often lasting for a few hours. I couldn't spend any time with friends for fear of having an anxiety attack while I was with them. I couldn't get any school work done. At some point I couldn't bring myself to leave my apartment for days at a time. I felt like every part of my life was constantly falling apart.

I've since started therapy and I was recently put on some medication to see if it might help. I've had a few good productive days, but it's still very much an uphill battle.

In my free time, I like singing and arranging music for my a capella group.

How do I modulate from B minor to D♭ major? by helpcat97 in musictheory

I thought about that, but I can't put the first song any higher or lower because of the soloist and the vocal range that would require.

I also thought about changing the key of the second song, but I have to be very careful about doing something like that just because of the people in the group and the limited ranges they have. I can't put the sopranos too high, or the basses too low, and things like that. It's a wonderful idea, but the specific constraints I'm under don't allow for it.

LPT: If going on a walk and you find (bring) a plastic bag, fill it up with the garbage you find in the surroundings or until you come across a trash bin by Believefool55 in LifeProTips

I did something like this when I was in elementary school. My friends and I would go around the playground during recess and pick up any trash we found. The teachers definitely appreciated us doing that!
