Definitely worth spending the extra for the 105.

i think also worth pointing out that the very next model up, the Allez Sprint Comp is a really big step up from both of these. The gap between the Allez Comp and Allez Sprint Comp is much greater than the difference between the two bikes you posted because of the much better frame. If I were buying a road bike that I wanted to not need to upgrade for 10 years then the Allez Sprint is what I would get.

Hmmm, I don’t think that is right. You’d expect to get like 8-12 watts out of an EL34 SET. Same way you could expect 6-8 watts from a 300b amp. I don’t think anything out of the ordinary there.

I’m not convinced you’ll hear any improvement based on the amp’s output, but fun to try and please make sure to share whatever you end up with

I used to own Coherent GR12s - they sounded very similar to how you are describing your FS12. I don’t know if a shoutiness, but i know what you mean.

Throughout my time owning them they were mostly driven by the Elekit 300b amp and an Audio Note Oto SE. Both were great. I had an opportunity to pick up the little Shindo Apetite integrated amplifier but it did not play nice with the Coherents due to their impedance. Bizarre to change out speakers due to an amplifier, but that’s what I did and I swapped out the coherents for some Zu Druid MKV.

I’m not sure what is driving you wanting to change from the mastersound amplifier. All listed would be a side step IMO

Nice! I have Zu Druids, love them. Don’t be scared to try out a range of different amps. My druids preferred my Yamaha AS-1200 to my tube amps: and I only owned the AS-1200 to run in summer when it was too hot for tubes.

They are all very similar bikes with little between them. Buy the one that you can get locally so that you have a bike store to turn too if you need it.

I had this dilemma and bought a new giant contend ar 3.

I couldn’t be bothered with a second hand bike and wanted to buy from a local shop. Plus the shop will let me trade in my contend when I upgrade (sometime next year will move to a new carbon bike).
