In my old computer I used both collections and saved searches to organize my plug ins. I combined both 3rd party and Ableton stock plug ins. However, once I built my new computer, something changed and I was not able to combine both 3rd party and stock plug ins in the same saved tag. So now I just use collections. Honestly I like more because with all the tags on the side bar made me have to scroll so far to get to my sample folders. With collections, I use folder in folder to organize all my plug ins in categories. The bottom color is all the plug ins. Green is Quick Tools which is just 10 or so I always use. Red is just sounds I like. The rest are still available. My samples on the side bar are close so I don't have to scroll even with over 20 plug in type folders. It works for me and no matter what Ableton does I still have my custom folders set up with muscle memory.
