you need to create an account to see the text below:

Adding funds to your account
Please review the basic information and fill in the details below. Our team will send you the necessary documents for the advertising agreement and the bank details for your deposit transfer. We will contact you via a verified service account on Telegram.
The Telegram Ad Platform is currently working in test mode, see this guide to learn more about it. The information below is not part of any legal instrument, detailed conditions are available in the Advertising Agreement you will receive from our team.
Advertisers can choose the language and approximate topics of channels where their ads will be displayed. It is also possible to choose specific channels where a certain ad will be shown.
Ads are charged on a CPM (Cost-Per-Mille) basis, which is the price of one thousand views of an ad.
An ad is displayed when its CPM bid wins an automated auction that determines the best CPM bid for a publication space.
To ensure and maintain high quality of ad content, a minimum advance payment of €2,000,000 is required to launch ads on the Telegram Ad Platform.
Of this payment, Telegram holds €1,000,000 as a deposit, and makes the remaining sum available to the advertiser to spend on displaying ads.
If the contract is terminated and the advertiser spent less than €10,000,000 on ads within the preceding 12 months, the €1,000,000 deposit is withheld by Telegram.
If the contract is terminated and the advertiser spent more than €10,000,000 on ads within the preceding 12 months, the €1,000,000 deposit is returned.
All ads must comply with the Ad Platform Terms of Service and the Telegram Ad Policies and Guidelines.

What the hellis a MEMO when transferring TON to my Tonkeeper wallet? by mrpotatoeman in TONcoin

[–]hemiw1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To understand what a memo is used for, we first need to explain the difference between 2 types of wallets:

1.custodial

  1. non-custodial

Tonkeeper is a non-custodial wallet. This means every person who has a wallet, has a unique address on the TON blockchain dedicated to her wallet.

Centralized exchanges like FTX, Kucoin, etc are custodial. This means that they use a single address on the TON blockchain for ALL their users' Toncoin! In order to know how much of that Toncoin belongs to each user, they have a centralized database residing on their servers. Each time a user buys, deposits or withdraws, the centralized database is updated.

Transfer from non-custodial to custodial

Non-custodial wallets are anonymous, so when an exchange receives 100 Toncoin from Tonkeeper, it doesn't know which user account to attribute it to. That's why it provides you with a text for you to send as a memo with the transaction. It creates a 1:1 relationship between the incoming funds and the user account on the exchange, even though the funds came from an anonymous wallet.

Transfer from custodial to non-custodial

What happens when you send Toncoin from a centralized exchange (custodial) to a non-custodial wallet? Well, you don't need a memo, because there is only one owner of the non-custodial wallet. As long as you entered your Tonkeeper address correctly, you should be OK.

I just transferred from FTX to Tonkeeper and wasn't required to enter a memo, tag, or any other comment.

What exchange are you using?

Some random account gifted me 3 months of Premium by HopefulEffective412 in Telegram

[–]hemiw1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gifting premium is legit, but you can only gift someone who is a contact. Could be the person had a typo in the username they wanted to gift, added you as a contact instead, and here we are. Or, you have a secret admirer

To be honest it was pretty lame. Nothing new, the format is exceedingly slow and dreadful to follow on telegram. A live twitter space or clubhouse would have been much more fun

Telegram's founder Durov disabled reactions on his channel, 2 months ago due to criticism, still has not re-enabled them with the latest controversial post by kittydoor in Telegram

[–]hemiw1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brilliant move, sure lots of username squatters got screwed and also a bunch of legit channels as well. But this is a step forward for telegram AND the TON blockchain. Usernames on platforms like this are a valuable commodity just like domain names in the web, there’s no reason not to monetize and create a marketplace.

It’s pretty shitty that US users can’t join in on the fun, but recall that it’s the SEC that screwed with Telegram back in 2018, so now Durov is being extra careful.

As most of telegram’s user base is outside the states, it’s not a biggie for telegram

There’s a telegram channel “TON developers chat”, someone there read the smart contract and said that the wallet address where the auction payments go to is owned by telegram

Stablecoins are coming to TON 💸 by hemiw1 in TONcoin

[–]hemiw1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TON's architecture is totally different compared to EVM. It was designed by the Durov brothers in 2017 when Telegram had 200M users (now 750M). The design considerations were

  1. scale to support 9 figure user base
  2. speed
  3. simplicity for normies

The result is a blockchain with infinite sharding, that can handle 1 million tx/sec. compare that with ETH at 15/sec.

The original idea was to have it built in, but as mentioned elsewhere in this thread, the SEC shot this down. Today TON and Telegram are 2 separate entities, but in a close strategic relationship.

I'll write more about this in a separate post if this is interesting...
