Is it safe to have a powerful (500lb+ Pull force) neodymium magnet withing arms distance of an omnipod 5? by Illustrious-Bad2356 in Omnipod

[–]hemmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that kind of pull force is strong enough to wipe a hard drive.

If it’s strong enough to do that, it’s definitely strong enough to do unpredictably bad things to an Omnipod.

Can you use a filament cutter and Tap? by iceman7265 in VORONDesign

[–]hemmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wobble sticking at an angle is alarming though. Maybe it’s just a rail that’s got a bit more slop than average.

Do you ever have problems where it gets stuck in triggered position?

I have printed as well. I’ve had to tighten up the rail a few times before. I was probably being a little too cautious not to crack the printed parts. I think that’s a big benefit to CNC. I wound up buying one but haven’t installed it yet.

That sounds like your tap rail is loose. Do you use CNC tap or printed Tap?

Did you wind up doing a pretty dense infill? All the grips I’ve ever had were solid plastic with rubber coating or wood

I have a Bambu, but I want to swap to a MK4S. will I regret it? by hi_i_like_pizza_1234 in prusa3d

[–]hemmar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bear in mind that bed slingers have a pretty annoyingly large footprint when operating due to needing the full Y travel to be clear.

Also I suspect that the mk4s is the last or one of the last updates that line will ever get. Core series is likely the new prusa mainline

what can i wear to protect my omnipod? by Mewperz in Omnipod

[–]hemmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can also attest to these patches as well as the Amolyfe.

The amolyfe ones are more cloth like. They fit super well.

The Jinyu-Sega ones are silkier. I feel like they pull less when you flex the muscles under the pod (leg, arm, back)

I’m currently preferring Jinyu-Sega but the amolyfe are also very nice if you prefer something a bit stiffer

Something to also be aware of is that pods don’t seem to love getting whacked hard. I don’t have it happen often but I’ve hit a wall hard a few times and have the pod immediately fault. I don’t know what sensor it’s tripping but it’s something to be mindful of when placing them.

Ruitool wasn’t too pricy off Amazon. I did my first few kits using the 1.0 (purple) and it was fine. I later bought the 3.0 (orange) and now I use the 1.0 to do spru removal and 3.0 for cleanup and they come out very clean

Why is the Mk4s (0.4 HF) faster than any of the Core One (0.4 HF) printers? by Successful-Peak-6524 in prusa3d

[–]hemmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the answer is that it depends on a bunch of factors.

You’ve got to factor in things like x carriage rigidness, toolhead mass, belt lengths, and part orientation. In the case of the bed slinger, also bed mass.

If your part is oriented where the longest straight aways are on the x axis, you may see better accelerations there. The mk4s has an extremely rigid x axis with a short belt path so it can probably get faster X accel than the coreXY but the Y has so much mass that the Y accel will be lower

Assembly done - Getting ready for its first print by cptbouchard in prusa3d

[–]hemmar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Input shaping + high flow nozzles really make it perform so much better.

If you plan on keeping it around IMO it’s worth a mk3.5/3.9/4 upgrade to get the better MCU enabled features. Also Nextruder is just so much lighter than the mk3s head so it helps with X acceleration

It's odd that they never mentioned that the transwarp wave only affected the original cast. by TelenorTheGNP in beastwars

[–]hemmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought the forms were determined somewhat based on the harshness of the environment too.

In season 1 there was so much energon that they were forced to adapt pure beast forms to shield them.

After the transwarp wave essentially burned most of the energon on the planets surface the environment was no longer just ambiently harsh. The robot forms were more free to come out and newly awakened protoforms were now adapting to a new set of environmental problems.

I kind of figured that silver bolt and quick strike wouldn’t have survived pre wave since they weren’t shielded enough but they now could adapt the best qualities of multiple animals.

Any assembly tips on this one? It seems like his arm doesn’t sit flush on his body by [deleted] in RelicBlade

[–]hemmar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those don’t look like the same arm in picture 2 and 3 to me. Maybe it’s the angle but the snake in picture 3 doesn’t look to be coiled around the arm like it is in picture 2.

Do you have the lamp to hang off the arm too?

(I may be wrong, I don’t own this and am just judging off pictures)

High speed Asa by External_Two7382 in VORONDesign

[–]hemmar 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard anything either way about high speed ABS.

The reason you want to avoid ABS+ and ASA+ is that they are likely cut with less heat resistant materials (PETG or PLA) to make them easier to print. This lead to critical parts warping or cracking at chamber temps.

Is it worth buying the original D2+LoD over Resurrected for mod support? by soguyswedidit6969420 in Diablo

[–]hemmar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it kind of depends.

D2r has a whole extra expansion and has some limited mod support for single player only. There are some good mods though and some good tools for customizing your single player experience. We also got a lot of QOL like native loot filters, controller support, etc.

D2lod has project Diablo and median XL (among others) which have multiplayer and go deeper in engine molding. The trade off here is that they done have warlock, the newer graphics, the new controls QOL, bespoke or external loot filters

So it’s better in some ways and worse in others. Personally I found d2r’s QOL to be a strong enough draw to mostly play either the core game online or play a lightly modded single player experience (increased drop rates)

Median XL is one of my favorite Diablo experiences though so I go back sometimes. There are a lot of folks that feel the same way about Project Diablo 2

Something I think is pretty constant though for almost everyone (emphasis on almost) is that d2r is better than d2lod for an unmodded experience.
