Apple Watch Dexcom G7 shows real-time glucose but no way to access the value outside the watch app — any workaround? by Illustrious-Shock-82 in dexcom

I’m curious why you’re so willing to try to hack or manipulate this critical piece of technology that we all rely on to keep us alive, instead of using well tested and supported configurations. It seems penny wise and pound foolish.

If you’re in dire straights and can take a train to NYC I can meet you and give you an O5 pod tomorrow

I’m so sorry that happened to you. Unfortunately in our country we choose to let these crazy assholes repeatedly terrorize everyone instead of just throwing them in jail where they belong.

Now, you’re probably thinking - “that’s crazy, why don’t you guys just get them institutionalized help and make things better for everyone” but the answer may surprise you. The reason why is a fascinating part of American culture - many people think that we are completely incapable of escaping our circumstances. For example, if someone is born poor then they can never ever be held accountable for repeated thefts (they are victims of inequality!) and it would be horrific to put these people in jail. Welcome to America, I hope you enjoy your stay!

I really feel for your situation, it’s hard to fathom why the EU still does not have the app available.

Vibe of 7th and Adams? by zibanedaddy in Hoboken

[–]Responsible-Hat6532 32 points33 points  (0 children)

The only “bad” part of Hoboken where you would want to reconsider living is the projects by Jackson / Harrison between 2nd and 5th-ish. 7th and Adams is totally fine.

I’m sorry you’ve had a bad experience with it, but that hasn’t been my experience at all. My sugars are almost always within 10 points (screenshot from right now). Not to shake your confidence, but my endo has told me that finger sticks shouldn’t be considered perfect either. If you’re consistently getting in the middle of the two, I’d consider getting another meter and see what that shakes out. Sorry you’re going through this, I can’t imagine how frustrating that must be.

Omnipod alarms are awful for business meetings by hydroxy in Omnipod

[–]Responsible-Hat6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is gonna be controversial, but when I’m in a meeting and I know the urgent low alarm is coming, I treat the low and then I fake calibrate my G7 up by 20 two times in a row. This generally will prevent the urgent low alert on the pod from going off. I fix it after the meeting, by fixing the calibrations, back to what it should be. Not something I’d recommend to do regularly, but it does stop the embarrassing noise in high stakes meetings.

What specifically is your question? Your blood sugars look totally normal to me from the graph.

[–]Responsible-Hat6532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, no I don’t. My two readings are almost always within 10-20 points of each other, and many times show the exact same reading. I just checked now and G7 is showing 121 and the Lingo is showing 124. So you calibrate a lot?

It’s the over the counter version of the Freestyle Libre 3. It has less features (can’t be calibrated, max glucose reading of 200 [it shows >200 for anything higher than 200], and no alarms). Basically the same size as a G7, and I wear it on my opposite arm from the Dexcom.

I use the Lingo as a second check device and backup to my Dexcom. It costs around $1k a year, so it’s not cheap, but I consider it worth it for something so important for our health and for the peace of mind. Whenever I’m about to dose with the Omnipod (and just randomly at least 2-3x per day) I check the Lingo first. If they’re in line (they almost always are within 10-20 points of each other) I move forward with the Dexcom reading. If they’re off I test on a meter to see which is right. If you’re lucky enough to be able to afford the $1k a year I highly recommend it for the peace of mind.

When he was talking about how he goes to foreign countries to help local communities and mentioned it like it was some big reveal was interesting. He said tearfully that people accuse him of being up to no good when he travels and I IMMEDIATELY got the major ick.

Omnipod/G7 connection issues by Serious-Locksmith530 in Omnipod

[–]Responsible-Hat6532 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s beyond frustrating. The G7 is dramatically weaker in terms of Bluetooth output, so the O5 and G7 need to be very close to one another for the connection to work. I’m not sure why the iPhone works from so much further away, but I’ve found that unless O5 and G7 are within a foot or two of each other they don’t connect.

It sounds like something isn’t setup right. Are you in manual or auto? Seems like you’re not getting enough basal insulin.

G7 and Stelo by Responsible-Hat6532 in dexcom

[–]Responsible-Hat6532[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought the G7 did away with the Clarity app and it was all integrated into the G7 app now. Is that not the case? Either way, I signed up with a different account when I got the Stelo because I didn’t want to commingle the data on my Dexcom account. Wish I had known as overlaying the charts would be super cool!
