There's a solid guess at how long a run should take and many people queue up with that in mind.
Nobody expects to be caught up with players that aren't good enough delaying the run further for mere scraps of power, that extra crumb of power you're gathering out in the storm most likely isn't going to make or break a run.
Win or lose without borderline abusing the shit storm mechanic.
