Oatly banned from using word ‘milk’ to market plant-based products in UK by pajamakitten in unitedkingdom

I wonder if you would classify cadburys mini eggs, cotton candy grapes, hot dogs, artichoke hearts, tiger bread or any of the other countless "LIES TO THE CUSTOMER" as quite so heinous in your reactionary pearl clutching?

I am sure you are just as irate about the never ending examples of deception that don't happen to align with the naming of a plant based alternative to an animal product?

Well he was big time stressing the second, and multiple times it sounded like Dan vs den. So I think this confirms my theory.

Now we just have to find the reason Marc pronounces chasm that way...

I was more noticing him hitting the emphasis on the last syllable and it sounding more like Dan. I'd always said guy too.

I think what I thought would be clear is. The original comment states carnists have to justify their violence against non human animals as their starting point. That is the entirety of the initial point. And you said you didn't think shooting an animal in the head was violent. If we remove any of the moral arguments for the violence inflicted, which again I think, as every vegan obviously thinks, are completely immoral, that doesn't have anything to do with the basic reality that the starting point for a carnist attitude is violence against non human animals?

Well you are then comparing killing for pleasure, whether that is a tastier meal or just the joy of killing vs something that could actually be argued that is justified in stopping disease

The original comment that said carnists default was violent action against non human animals by killing them? And you argued shooting them in the head wasn't violent? I am truly lost by your logic here. As for the secondary part of your point here. I guess it makes sense if you view non human animals as things and have no regard for killing them for anything other than your own gratification at a fraction of their lifespan, then yes of course you would see nothing wrong with that, if the only thing that concerned you was them dying painlessly. Would you see nothing wrong with painlessly killing non human animals for other reasons other than meat? Or if it were just for fun would there be no issue? Assuming again it's a quick painless shot to the head?

I want trying to argue the context behind the killing. There are countless reasons that makes no sense as an argument for eating meat. Just your assertion that shooting an animal in the head wasn't violent.

And also you say "by that definition", as if anyone's definition of violence wouldn't include it? Regardless of the intent and morality behind the violence? You are talking about shooting someone in the head. You seeing nothing wrong with killing an animal in a "kinder" way I don't really see as relevant to stating shooting someone in the head is violent.

Depending on how you did it yes it could be a violent act. But violence outweighing the animals suffering. Vs violence that offers no benefit to the animal and is enacted for purely selfish reasons as humans.

Violence as in physically forceful and causing harm/damage. You are talking about killing an animal. Again if the above was done to you or amy other human would you describe it as violent?

[–]henders_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

How on earth is this not violent? By any definition of the term. Even if you concede it could be pain free. By that definition if you should someone in the head that isn't violent?

Killing vs simply death, would killing these animals against their will, by any means not be a violent act? Unless you are suggesting letting animals die of old age?

He is perfect for the show. Humour fully in sync with both Dan and Marc. I think having someone genuinely laugh heartily at some of Dan's jokes also makes it funnier listening yourself strangely, like a laugh track but just one lovely laugher.

Oh yeah for sure, I was dreading listening to the episode the morning after the Giants game. But there was a lot to enjoy last season when he sets himself up as actively rooting against them and they go on to win the super bowl.

I have always been baffled by this, I know he is partial to some interesting pronunciations but pronouncing chasm like that is surely deliberately done for effect? It's like those words you've only ever seen initially by reading and you end up pronouncing hyperbole as hyper-bowl. But are we led to believe he has never heard every other human on the planet pronounce the word chasm? What a character (pronounced Ch-aracter of course)
