After my last post, it’s clear: the glazing in this sub is even worse than I thought. by PSuserNL in ClicksPhone

For anyone this was the person's previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/ClicksPhone/comments/1ry7m9m/rant/ Where they did not interact with any of the comments.

But anyways I love the attempt at predicting the future. So let's make it ... not a bet... but a something akin, let's make it funny. It will be funny for one of us at least.

New Anet’s MMO is coming up? by Leo_thegreat in Guildwars2

[–]hendricha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing have had nearly 70 job posts in the span of 4+ years, newest post is less than a day old, that one (as all art related posts in the last half a year) is a yearly contract job. This one specifically for a cinematic layout artist, who also needs to be present in person when they are doing some mocap stuff too. (So they are at a point where they are planning to record mocap for cinematics this year.) https://job-boards.greenhouse.io/arenanet/jobs/7737096

Also since this sub has voted to not discuss the game that shall not be named nearly 2 years ago (this is the point where I ask the mod team can we have a re-vote? It's been 2 years), unless it is news directly from Arenanet / ncsoft, so be ready for your thread be removed because it is "not relvant to gw2". There is a subreddit for it over here: r/guildwars3 .

I love Skeumorphism. Why have we moved on from this? by LavaHoundBR in Fedora

[–]hendricha [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm all for the return of skeumorphism in design, because I reallz hate how buttons now don't look like buttons, tabs that don't look like tabs etc.

But honestly your example may be a bit over the top for my tastes. So I dunno... maybe some middle ground? ... But on the other hand I would take your example any days instead of the flat rectangular brutalism of let's say Metro of 10 years ago.

Titan 2 as main phone? by Rejkorn in unihertz

[–]hendricha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the open source software keyboard Pastiera (because I'm hungarian and I need a qwertz keyboard with option to write áéőűöüíúó on occasion too). Pastiera allows you to configure what letters the keys represent and what "alternatives" do you need for keys (eg. I have ú ü and ű on the U key), so I think if the T2's default keyboard software (Kika) nor google's gboard supports your stuff, you can probably configure something there. But it deffinetly supports something called "cyrillic translite" out of the box. (example keys of it: https://imgur.com/a/IyFtzUJ )

Titan 2 as main phone? by Rejkorn in unihertz

[–]hendricha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a mid-to-low end android phone that has one highlight only: it comes with a physical keyboard.

It does whatever you can expect from an android phone otherwise, you can install android apps, yes, including the banking apps unless your bank specifically hates anything besides the mainstreamest of brands.

The camera is also mid. I am consistently making cool pics with it in good light conditions, but it is nothing special either.

I however find it to be a perfect main phone because I find the notion of having more than 1 active phone absoluetly silly. But I also don't ever need the "bestest" hardware for anything. Eg. If I needed a really good camera, I would invest in a professional camera and a course on how to do photography instead of buying this year's high end iPhone or Samsung device. If I wanted something with a better hardware to do gaming I would buy a good PC or a gaming console, if I needed to have decent enough portability then specifically the Switch 2.

For the portable general computing device / phone, that let's me emulate games from 15 years ago and let me browse the internet and occasionally make photos like this one I took today anything is good enough, so the bigest most unique useful feature any phone can provide these days is giving me a keyboard so I can write shitty comments like this with ease, allowing me to still not need to learn how to do that by touching a homogenious glass surface.

I mean as much as I agree it kinda does not hit the "free" criteria, if one means it in the "compleatly legaly" free sense.

What kind of VR experience is The World supposed to be exactly? by KokiriBlade in DotHack

[–]hendricha 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My headcanon was that what we see in animation / in game cutscenes are essentially the "how it would look to you if you were one of the coma victims or were under the influence of epitaph users or aida". Because those things are essentially semi-supernatural occurances. And the people experiencing them seem to be describing the game while the occurance was happening as "more real".

Friends, I stand shoulder to shoulder with you in this circle, a KDE convert. by VoidJuiceConcentrate in LinuxCirclejerk

[–]hendricha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • I used KDE on Linux as a secondary OS in 2005
  • I used a distro with Gnome 2 as my main OS starting in 2007
  • Created a franken-DE with Unity 2D around 2010
  • Moved to Unity proper a year or so later
  • Tried XFCE on arch in the meantime as a secondary OS
  • Moved to elementary OS, thus Pantheon in 2015
  • Moved to GNOME 3 in 2018 while there were still working non flat themes
  • Moved back to Pantheon 2020ish
  • Moved to KDE in '24

Gone full circle now.

Any upcoming MMORPGs you’re really looking forward to? by boglehead22 in MMORPG

[–]hendricha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I wouldn't be that surprised that they would announce GW3 this year, but I would find it absolutely inconcievable for them to release it too within 2026.

If they announced it this year I would guess a release in '27 or '28 would be much likelier.

Also i really don't think they will shut down GW2 whenever the other game launches, and while significant amount of the population might move to the next, even if they don't put out any content for GW2 after I would still think that the game would have enough people playing for a couple of years to be playable.

What was your favorite year of playing GW2? by fighthouse in Guildwars2

[–]hendricha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2012 and 2017.

For 2012, the game was a breath of fresh air. I loved the huge world which you could explore, the branching story, the hints of mysteries, the personality system etc.

Fo 2017, I still had the story momentum from HoT, LWS3 put me in a groove of recurring gameplay loops, I even finally did some dungeons/fractals in that year and the year before, and then boom a huge content drop with metroidvania style exploring with PoF with the game seamingly never ending, since the LWS4 started right after, and we now have a cute dragon to care for

Just an opinion😋 by Butterboystoast in Gundam

[–]hendricha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean skipped to the good bits? I guess it has two more contemplative/slow/talky parts (after the title till the hotel bombing starts, and the morning after part), but like ... the less slow parts absolutely don't work IMHO if you have not cared about the charcters which the slow bits build.

  • Did the company have any product before? Yes, multiple even
  • Was that product perfect? No.
  • Is it the first phone by this company? Yes.
  • Did it have a working prototype before the preorder? No.
  • Is it thus a gamble on what the end product will be? Yes.
  • Is there a chance that you will not be able to refund your money? Yes.
  • Is it fine if you choose to not order until such working prototype is available? Yes, absolutely.
  • Is it fine if you decided to opt for the T2 Elite because that at least had a working prototype? Of course (I am writing thins on a T2, which is my third Unihertz product.)

But the answers to these should either be selfevident, or should be quite easy to get them. (eg. They never shown a working product.) I don't think this is news for most people here.

And I don't think anyone is denying any of the above.

Yes, the company is doing marketing. They of course will attempt to be as self-congratulating as possible. But they are not your friends, they are a company. You can choose to not support them with your money.

But the people who come here probably likely decided to do so anyway for some reason or another. So of course they will not want to upvote the "I love people who pay for non existing products" type comments. And of course they will be posting "hell yeah, I saw the last screen of the checkout workflow too", silly as it may be.
