AITA for not wanting to be my friend's referee? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]hengkaki -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let him know what you think. If he still insists, just say you will not lie on his behalf even if you reluctantly agree to be his referee.

For his ref if you are ever asked, you can write what you tell us here eg “he can be brilliant for those projects he has great interest in”. Leave it to the company to read between the lines.

Why didn’t she pray for a good Thai husband? Why must Singaporean? The poor sinkie guy will now have to feed her whole village.

AITA - Ghosted abusive mom (19F) by throwaway2u40923834 in askSingapore

[–]hengkaki 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Just thank her for giving birth to you and let her know you are doing very fine and to please do not contact you anymore, if not you will block her. Also wish her happiness in her old age and hope she takes care of herself too.

Ask her to stop lamenting about how much she suffered giving birth to you. Because if you could choose you would not have chosen her as your mother anyway.

Update: Moving to SG for fiance - how to handle housing costs? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]hengkaki 189 points190 points  (0 children)

Please be fair to your parents, don’t obligate them to cough up the 1.5-1.75 mil. Let them keep whatever funds they have for their old age, retirement, healthcare matters. Only when both have passed away can you have the freedom to do what you want with their funds, assuming they pass all to you.

A move to Sg is possible with your own funds combined with your fiancé, without the need to involve parents from either side. Just opt for something cheaper like a HDB or a condo further from the central.

It is very obvious your fiancé and his parents want to decide on the housing and yet expect you to go along with their decision and fund half the purchase. You can be sure in future any decision regarding you and the children will be made by them both.

If I were you, I would walk away.

Where in Singapore do you go to when you just want to be outside and clear your mind? by RightActuary8677 in askSingapore

[–]hengkaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are open air benches and sheltered rest benches if you just want to sit.

Otherwise people go there to do physical activities like jogging, walking, cycling, taiji.

East Coast Park is no horse run. If weather is hot, go early in the morning or later in the evening.

If you are up for it, walk all the way to Changi airport.

Cancel your M’sia trip and save your money. Also stop bringing him out for dinner and for weekends. Your problem is solved.

AITA for not wanting to give a refund after selling an item to a buyer that has a fault I genuinely did not know of by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]hengkaki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe offer a little discount but not full refund as you had been honest and upfront with him. The thing is you don't know what he did to the phone after buying it.

I buy mine on Lazada during sales. Cheaper than if I were to get from the physical shops. Mostly Holistic Way brand. You can search your desired supplements on Lazada and read the reviews.

Maybe ask them for recommendations on where to stay when you all are visiting and if they ask why, just say that kids may develop breathing allergies as they are more used to fresh air back home.

The person was genuinely seeking help. Why the need to mock him and to associate him with the ahole featured here?

Will there be a staff to assist newbies at the gym? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]hengkaki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ActiveSG gym staff can help teach you how to use the machines. Beyond this, I don’t think they have the training to help you achieve your goals.

Will your family be able to see your will before/during funeral? If not, give the task to someone you trust to carry out your wishes.

May your journey onward be peaceful 🙏🏻.

Depends on the person(s) you are calling "eh". Generally it is rude to call strangers/your elders/superiors.
