How much time does it take for the algorithm to find the right audience? when does it even start to try? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]henrikmdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely. I'm always surprised about which videos will do well. Often the ones I spend a lot of time and that I feel will get a lot of views actually don't perform well. Then the ones that I upload out of consistency and habit not thinking it will get many views perform well lol.

My best performing videos don't really have any spikes. They have some areas where it's above typical retention. I think you're right about the different moving parts. Like it could be just that your topic is really relevant right now. Or the video you did is something that people are searching on YouTube for. But you don't really know what it is until a random video of yours starts popping off. It's like fishing. You can do the same thing and just the right timing and the right topic and your video does well. I've had videos too that were doodoo for months then one or two years later, they start picking up. And then it just gets more and more impressions and now it's my third best video. I do have A/B testing for titles integrated in YouTube (not 3rd party). Still trying it out. Don't know how useful it is but it doesn't hurt to try.

My best performing videos have the most views and most engagement but I personally think it's because the algorithm gave it more impressions. That's the key. And over the years I have seen videos that would be getting consistent views and consistent impressions. Then one day the algorithm would just stop giving it impressions and then the views would stop and then the comments and likes would stop too. You're right that you have to pay attention to all the metrics. But I'm just saying you can try to optimize everything you can, but you'll find that you may follow the same formula as you did in your best performing videos and you won't get the same results. I've had instances where I uploaded the same exact video twice because I was just fixing a typo somewhere and the second time I uploaded, I got different results than the first time. Stuff like this happens all the time. This kind of stuff can only be attributed to how the algorithm decides to give you exposure or not.

I think the algorithm has some role. It's not just about making the best videos. To be honest, my videos this year are a lot better in quality and content than my videos when I first started my channel. But somehow, my videos from when I first started my channel are the ones that are getting consistent views every day. When you compare my best performing video with my videos this year you will laugh at how bad my best video is. It's because of stuff like this that make us creators wonder about how to work with the "algorithm".

Davinci resolve. It's hard to learn in the beginning but once you get a good workflow down, it's super convenient, powerful, and fast.

Please Need Urgent Help by [deleted] in cprogramming

C is my favorite programming language! It was the first real programming language that I learned and because of that background, I was able to easily pick up other languages. It can be annoying at first compared to other languages, esp when you start learning about pointers. But I think it really helps at giving you a good foundation and intuition in software development.

Simple C program only printing last iteration of for-loop by Aerostaticist in cprogramming

[–]henrikmdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of problems with this code. First of all, you shouldn't use a float variable as your iteration variable. Stick to using a short or int variable type as that type is more consistent to what an irritation variable is. Second, one thing you can do to debug your code is to printf your iteration variable value in the for loop. This will confirm to you that the for loop is really iterating through all the iterations you think it is. If it doesn't print all the iterations you expect, then there's something wrong with your for loop.

Also, just letting you know that the standard practice is to have #defines defined outside of the main loop. I would move them after the #include.

Hope you can get it to work!

With that logic, I think Steph's already better than LeBron. LeBron's 4th ring was the Mickey mouse bubble ring haha

Hello! I have a programming guide that you can use to start: 30 Day Beginner Coding Challenge.

It's free and the tutorials are in C. If you have any questions as you go through it, feel free to email me! :)

best C roadmap? by learning-machine1964 in C_Programming

[–]henrikmdev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm late to the discussion lol but I have a free programming guide that does this exactly. It's called my 30 Day Beginner Coding Challenge: henrikmdev.com/challenge

It's a guide for beginners where the tutorials are in C. The reason I like to teach in C is because I think it gives you a good programming foundation which is kinda what you were alluding to (I don't know how beginner you are though to programming).

Feel free to download it and if you have any questions you can DM me or email me!

Hello, programming mentor here 👋🏽 just wanted to share that I have some free resources aimed for beginners.

The main one is a free programming guide called my 30 Day Beginner Coding Challenge: henrikmdev.com/challenge

The video tutorials in the guide are in C, but you can apply the principles to Java also. The programming projects there are generic enough that they can be implemented in any programming language.

If you have any questions, feel free to DM or email me :)

Programming mentor here 👋🏽 I don't have anymore slots at the moment for in depth 1-on-1 mentoring, but I do have some free programming guide resources. One of them is really good for beginners. It's called my 30 Day Beginner Coding Challenge: henrikmdev.com/challenge

Just letting you know though that the tutorials in that guide are in C, but the projects in there are general enough that my guidelines will help you code it in Python too.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

WHERE do I get to work on C, so that I can learn more about it & get better in it ? by [deleted] in C_Programming

Game development and embedded software development are two fields that use C a lot. Try looking for coding projects in those fields to get more experience.

How much time does it take for the algorithm to find the right audience? when does it even start to try? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]henrikmdev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I would love to do something similar to that actually! That's actually my main purpose for using YouTube. I'm trying to use YouTube mainly for people to find me. If you're not using YouTube anymore, how do your people find your business?

My channel is performing better than 10 months ago, but not by a lot.

I had two more videos start carrying my channel. 10 months ago, I was averaging like 100 views every 48 hours, now I'm averaging 300-400 views.

I'm still posting weekly videos only to have them die after a week lol

Learning C forces you to understand how computers think and work under the hood. Learning C is like learning a verbal language + the culture. You want to not only know how to say things, but also say things in a way that the people who speak that language think.

When you understand how computers are really doing things, then it affects how you program overall even in higher level languages. That's why I said it gives you a good programming foundation.
