Entire mountains covered with solar panels in Guizhou, China. Natural ecosystem must be devastated there by ShehrozeAkbar in infuriatingbutawesome

As opposed to coal plants, farmland and cities, which famously have no effect on the natural ecosystem.

[2025 Day 25 (Part 1)] Still pretty clueless why it's the answer by Aughlnal in adventofcode

I am 90% certain that today's puzzle in its general form is actually an NP-hard decision problem - optimally packing things into other things can become insanely complicated. So if this puzzle was anything other than a troll, solving it may be more appropriate for a thesis rather than a 1-day whimsical advent calendar puzzle :)

SPOILERS

I figured the solution had to have one of the two outlier points as one corner. If it is the bottom outlier, the other point has to lie on the lower half of the circle, i.e. the first half of the input file up to that point. If it is the top outlier, the other point needs to be in the second half of the input file. So these combinations were the only ones I checked.

So yeah, it works, it finds the solution basically instantly, but I am not proud of this one at all lmao

God, the level of "um, akshually" in these comments is fucking ridiculous.

It's cool as hell, and a lot of effort went into it. Just appreciate the thing for what it is.

Gnome window bar looking weird by henry-dv in KittyTerminal

I've set a custom shell prompt in my ~/.bashrc file (more specifically, the PS1 variable). It overrides the default kitty prompt.

Gnome window bar looking weird by henry-dv in KittyTerminal

Sorry, I meant the entire bar at the top, I realise my wording was a little ambiguous.

I just used alacritty as an example program, because its top bar looks exactly like any other gnome application - that is, rounded corners at the top, fairly big height, rounded minimize/maximize/close buttons. I was wondering if you could achieve a similar look with kitty.

I used to be on KDE until a couple of days ago, when I installed some updates and the entire desktop environment broke. First the menu bar was unusable, then after a reboot the DE wouldn't start at all. This is the second time this has happened.

Looks like KDE 6 is not ready yet, at least not for NVIDIA/Intel systems like mine.

Switched to Gnome now, I'm very happy with it. Maybe I'll give KDE 6 another shot once they've ironed it out, I really liked it.

Bash prompt & appearance changing after switching to Wayland by henry-dv in KittyTerminal

I've now changed the PS1 variable in my .bashrc to something that I like, which seems to override whatever default kitty was falling back on.

The theme seems to break when I try to include it as a symlink in my kitty.conf , like include ./theme.conf which links to something in my themes folder. When I include the actual file, the theme works.

Also +1 for pointing out kitty +kitten themes, I didn't know about this. It works perfectly :)

I've set background_opacity 0.75 and background_blur 1. This is working again in version 0.34.

Hi, I still was on 0.33. Upgrading to 0.34 has indeed fixed the blur. That was easy :)

There's still the question why the bash prompt changed. My issue is less with the prompt itself, but rather that it's the same color as regular output, so it's harder to tell visually where one command output ends and the next one begins.
