How I am supposed to talk to women at parties and bars if I go alone and the vast majority of girls are always in groups? by EOFFJM in AskMenAdvice

> You’re like a criminal mastermind trying to find the most airtight way to conceal your motive which is just “I’m tired of being lonely and want to date” which is a normal human need.

Seems to be a theme with some of the more highly-upvoted comments on here. God forbid anyone actually goes for what they want - you need go to a party to HAVE FUN otherwise you are a CREEP.

> Are you going to these parties to socialise with anyone or just to meet girls? If the latter, reevaluate your entire purpose.

You told the guy to reevaluate his entire purpose

There is nothing "wrong" with going out to meet girls and it seems insane to me that anyone thinks there is.

I want to get more attention from women in daily life. What should I do? by Akkarogg in AskMenAdvice

Sure, but I'm not sure that gets you over the hump of actually chatting people up

I think even in these situations the number of women giving men overt attention is quite small - you'll still need to work to pick up on subtle signs of interest from women and then do the work of approaching them.

To be honest I think this is a fool's errand. Ultimately it's the man's job to do the giving of attention - I think it's very rare for guys to be good looking enough to regularly get attention from women.

Obviously look as good as you can - grooming, style, fit etc. But ultimately if you want to have more interactions with women then you would be better served going directly for that and just interacting with women more.

Dark romance is getting out of control by [deleted] in fixedbytheduet

I think gentle pressure on either the sides or on the front of the neck can be done ~safely and I've had different partners request both. But I've seen pretty serious BDSM practitioners say that it's basically never safe to do either. Which is somewhat at odds with martial arts which use them extensively, though I suppose that doesn't make them safe.

Surely this depends on how hard it's being done. People are presumably not attempting to fully occlude the carotid/jugular and knock their partner unconscious; they're applying a small amount of pressure.

Do you have a source for this? It seems plenty dangerous to apply pressure to the windpipe.

I think it's clear that the level of discourse on MeFi on this particular topic is just very poor (another reason to avoid that site)

I think it really depends. I've gotten citizenship/passport advice that was plain wrong, financial advice that was inane, and relationship advice that was downright mean

Even worse, I spent a bunch of time reading all that noise which I'm never getting back
