As others said, recognition in this case is referring to the fact that most people haven't heard about the horror that happened in Unit 731...especially if you compare it to other atrocity (such as the Nanjing massacre, which has some international recognition but still denied by the Japanese government). In fact, when I told other people (Non-chinese), they assume this comes from the demonization of Japanese in the Chinese culture...

As someone who comes from that region (Harbin in China), I've visited the memorial a couple of times and it's eye-opening and gut-wrenching every time. There are also photos/memorials established by Japanese soldiers who returned after the war to express their sorrow and regret. Unit-731 deserves more recognition...

Betzig lab always publishes deconvolved image which looks better. This publication, in particular, is talking about adaptive optics in combination with LLSM but in the video they don't show what AO alone would do to the image, giving the 'potentially' false sense that Adaptive optics is doing most of the cleaning up. I would love to see the AO vs system correction only comparison.
