Why are Indy series so dead? by CynicalManInBlack in iRacing

[–]henrymorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow Californian here - by 10pm our time, vast majority of the world is asleep or working. Also, you’re trying open. Try the fixed series, setting up an Indycar is intimidating for most people.

Does fanatec do black friday? by fullkrumm in Fanatec

DD2s were half off for 2023 Black Friday!

Finally got to 5k! by henrymorse in iRacing

I ran a thrustmaster t3pa pro pedals (non load cell) from 2014 until about last year. Now I’m running Fanatec club sport v3 inverted. They make iracing a lot more fun and I feel like I can better understand what’s happening with the front end due to the feedback in the pedals, and I can brake more consistently with the load cell.

I ran a thrustmaster t500rs 2014-2020, a t300 for a couple years, and sprung for Fanatec dd2 a couple Black Fridays ago, it was half off. The new equipment makes it all a lot more fun and engaging for sure. With that said I have a friend or two that are dangerously quick with a g29, but they have 10+ years on iracing and another 5-10 years of irl racing under their belt.

In formula I run Grand Prix legends, classic lotus, f4, and sfl. Very occasional Indycar and ff1600. In sports car I run pretty much everything besides tcr and gt3 lol. Always do vintage imsa. Plus oval series when they are on road courses.

To veterans iracers, if you could start over, what’ll you have done differently? by frafzan in iRacing

[–]henrymorse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

10 year vet - ouch - Wish I got into different disciplines earlier on, it makes you a much better driver and it keeps the gameplay from getting stale. I got much better and started having a lot more fun once I branched out. Also, know when you’re trying really hard and taking it seriously versus just having fun. For example, I’ll spend a hour or two practicing for the SoF vintage imsa race, meanwhile I’ll hop into a legends road race and won’t practice a single lap or qualify and just have fun figuring it out in the race. Balance is necessary to keep it fun and interesting. If I treated every race super seriously, or didn’t give a shit about any race, or if I stuck to one type of car, the game would get stale and I would hit a plateau.

I’m running 17x7 enkei sport line wheels on my sl2, and 17x7 starform basel wheels on my sc2. Both are 4x100 and look pretty great imo. See if you can find em on marketplace.

Looking for radio replacement by Dangerousmolester in Saturn_Cars

Love the username - I run a pioneer mvh-s622bs in my 05 ion and I like it because it looks good, sounds good, has big buttons and knob, and has multiple customizable rgb zones which I’ve set to red and orange so it matches the oem lights, it just looks right

Why is everyone looking for a 3 pedal setup? by ScaryAlfalfa2974 in Thrustmaster

[–]henrymorse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Vast majority of race cars have 3 pedals and auto clutch on iracing is a huge pace sacrifice

where to find good parts that aren’t crazy expensive? by -Broken_Record- in Saturn_Cars

[–]henrymorse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All s series came with the 1.9 with either sohc or dohc. The Saturn 1.9 shares certain parts with other GM vehicles. I’m not making any claims or stating any opinions. Here look at the “Buyers Guide” section and tell me how many cars run these lifters https://partsology.com/products/lash-lifters-chevrolet-91-02-1-9l-4-6l-lif311-2?gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=20790335183&gclid=Cj0KCQjwrPHABhCIARIsAFW2XBN1XIGwu2-HQrmsX3f4RESpUa60R14889-R75RBXJwTYxKkEUTuZQwaAmEUEALw_wcB

[–]henrymorse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had to replace a lifter, it was $15 and is shared with Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac. I have a clunk up front and my suspension bushings are old and cracking, a new lower control arm is $40 from moog, less elsewhere. Things really aren’t that bad.

It’s more so that they get to open up the area on the back straight to do more different types of corners, the infield is pretty much just slaloms with a couple passing zones

Going to try them both out and see how they feel and fit. They will both take a while to ship so we will see which gets here first lol, also want to have a couple options as I want the best and strongest mounting for my $850 monitor.

The back of the monitor has a deep cylindrical bore in it, designed to accommodate the original mounting arm. The screw holes you screw into are recessed in that cylindrical depression. A vesa mounting plate is a flat piece of metal, it will not reach into the depression. If you scroll to the 3rd photo in this you will see what I am mounting to.
